Seniors and Parents
Seniors and Parents:
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opened up on October 1, 2020. In a normal year, we would do a FAFSA presentation and assistance night for senior students and parents. However, this year we are providing you with information, links, and presentations for you to be able to understand and file. It is recommended that all seniors complete the FAFSA application even if you feel you may not qualify for funds because college/universities want to know your EFC (see explanation below) index in order to be able to offer you their scholarships.
Our normal event is hosted by Caleb Willis, Associate Director of Financial Aid - Navarro College. You may contact him through the contact information below with any questions even if your student is not attending Navarro.

Also, I am providing a LINK to the College Board website and a LINK to their presentation for FAFSA.
If you have any questions, please contact Becky Oliver, College Liaison at: Becky_oliver@misd.gs
****Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is an index number that college financial aid staff use to determine how much financial aid you would receive if you were to attend their school. The information you report on your FAFSA, including specific tax information and family income, is used to calculate your EFC.***

Advanced Placement Exam Registration
Taking the Advanced Placement exam is an important part of all AP courses. Midlothian High School desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class. Additionally, MISD is excited to offer a full refund of exam fees for students who earn a 3, 4 or 5 on their AP exam. Procedure: Students taking AP exams at Midlothian High School must register and pay for exams on the Total Registration website by October 30th, 2020 for fall semester and full year courses. For spring-only courses, the deadline is February 26th, 2021. For 2021 AP Exams, the cost is $50 per exam. Late registration will incur an additional $40 fee until March 5th, 2021. Register & pay for AP exams at www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/444750 Students will have the ability to pay the exam fee online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit or debit card on hand before beginning registration. Before we can order AP exams, all students must also “enroll” for their AP exams with the College Board. At the end of the registration process with Total Registration, students will be provided with information and a link to complete the enrollment process with the College Board. Please complete this final step right after registering/paying with Total Registration to guarantee the AP exam(s) will be ordered. Please contact Leigh_Fields@misd.gs if you have any questions regarding registration, financial assistance, or applying for testing accommodations. AP Exam Refund Policy: Students who cancel an exam by March 5th, 2021 are entitled to a refund of the exam fee. After March 5th, 2021 there are no refunds. Any late fees incurred with exam registration are non-refundable. SSD Policy: Students with disabilities seeking testing accommodations (who aren’t yet approved through the College Board) need to submit their request with Mrs. Fields (Leigh_Fields@misd.gs) or Mrs. Neal (Amy.Neal@misd.gs). The deadline for requesting testing accommodations is January 12th, 2021.

GRAB and GO Breakfast and Lunch
Grab and Go Schedule Changes
In an effort to better serve students, both face-to-face and virtual learners, we are going to adjust the "grab and go" times for the Aramark staff to be able to staff the serving lines for our students on campus in an efficient manner. We will continue serving our grab and go students on Monday and Wednesday at the same four locations, but the time will be shifted to 8 a.m. to 10 a.m
Student Lunch Deliveries
YOU MUST HAVE A CELL PHONE TO SCAN THE QR CODE TO ENTER THE BUILDING
This year it is important to limit lunch deliveries as much as possible. However, we understand that there are times where this is necessary. If you are needing to drop off a lunch for your student, you will need to do the following; scan the QR code located on the front door and fill out the health screener, ring the bell to be let into the rotunda, and place the lunch on the cart labeled for your child's correct lunch time. Make sure you write your student's name on the lunch. We will not be able to provide pens. After dropping off, please text your student to let him/her know that the lunch has been delivered. Please do not linger in the rotunda after you place the student's lunch in the grade level cart. Students can only have food/drinks delivered during their lunch time. No deliveries from Doordash, Grubhub, Pizza Places, ETC.
Student Parking Passes and IDs
Parking Passes required.
Face to Face Students: Please scan the QR code to request a parking pass. You will then be able to purchase your parking pass during lunch or during your off period. The cost is $45. All students must wear their IDs while on campus. If you forget your ID or lose it you can get a replacement in the counseling center. A replacement is $3 and a temporary is $1.
Virtual Students: If you come to campus for classes you will need a parking pass. We will sell parking passes in Kevin Melton's office next to the cafeteria. The cost is $45.00.
Health and Safety
Our campus is continuing to be vigilant with all of our health and safety protocols and we need your partnership in these efforts. If your child is sick, experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or is waiting on results from a COVID-19 test, your child must stay home from school.
Below are the conditions for returning to school after an individual shows symptoms or gets a positive COVID-19 test result.
Either:
24 hours with no fever; and
Symptoms improved; and
10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared
Or:
Obtain 1 negative COVID-19 test result from a physician’s office, approved testing location or other site. https://tdem.texas.gov/covid-19/
Or:
A doctor’s note indicating an alternate diagnosis; and
Must check-in with the campus nurse before returning to class.
We thank you for your partnership and understanding as we keep the health and safety of our students, teachers and staff members our top priority.
Student Drop-off and Pick-up info

To access entry 17, please enter the South Parking Lot off of 9th street by the Ag building. Parents will not be able to drop students off in the North lot this school year. Car riders may be picked up at all MHS exits. No parents will be able to enter the South Lots until busses have exited the property.
Bus Riders: Bus Riders will enter through Door 29 at the cafeteria entry.
Student Drivers: Student drivers can park in the North or South Parking lot. If they park in the North lot, they will enter door 37 by the auditorium. If they park in the South lot, they will enter door 17.

UIL Events
MISD UIL Event Spectator Information:
All Texas Public School Districts received new UIL Guidelines for COVID 19 Mitigation Expectations, including masks and social distancing, at all UIL events and therefore MISD has updated the UIL Event Spectator Guidelines to include this information. This includes all UIL events that occur at the MISD Stadium, HS and MS Gyms, and any other MS or HS field. We are grateful for spectator support at our UIL events for our high schools and middle schools and we want to be able to continue to have a fan base. In order to do so, we must be more vigilant to follow the COVID19 Mitigation Protocols that are expected.
Below are the key points to know about expectations when attending ANY UIL event for MISD schools:
* Masks are expected be worn in the stadium, at the fields, or inside the gyms at ALL TIMES unless you are eating or drinking. We are required to adhere to state guidelines and the Governor’s GA-29 order.
* Please wear masks while sitting in the stands at the events to increase protection for yourself and those around you.
* Do not sit on bleachers marked as "no seating.” MISD has taped off more seats to provide improved social distancing in the stands.
