Founders Weekly
March 18th to 22nd
Shout out!
So many great things happened last week! I want to recognize a few:
- Special Ed staff for putting extra to support colleagues who were out!
- Ms. Zawatsky for planning for a colleague in need!
- Ms. Jess for kicking off theater with a bang!
Surveyworks!
Please make sure you complete the Surveyworks survey by Friday! Thank you to all who completed already!
Arts Night
Please join us in celebrating our students accomplishments at Arts Night Thursday, March 21st from 5 to 7! The 8th grade students art will be displayed in the Beacon Gallery, the 6th and 7th on the 4th floor of Founders.
Pennies for Patients
Please encourage your students to participate in Pennies for Patients to raise some funds for this important cause. They will follow your lead.
8th Grader Superlative Survey
Ms. Baffoni has a superlative survey for 8th graders to take during Advisory on Tuesday she will email it out.
Recess Schedule
Please follow the recess schedule for grade levels to keep outside less chaotic. If any student is not following outside expectations let me know and I will take them in.
New Employee
Jessica Hauk has accepted the part-time humanities position through the end of the year. Her official start date is next Monday, March 25th but you may see her around this week shadowing. She was a middle school and high school English teacher before choosing to stay home with kids and recently got her middle grades certificate with Marissa Roy. Please welcome and support her.
4th floor
There seem to be a lot of kids out of class on the couch or in the hallway by Ms. Hill's office. If you have allowed kids to work out of class, please be sure they have a pass that says where they should be and keep an eye out. Call the office if you notice kids out of area up there during lunches. They do not have permission to eat up there unless a teacher has given them a pass and is supervising them.
Passes from Study and Recess
Please do not send kids out of the room during recess and study. If they need to get games, one student may get them at the end of lunch or the start of recess. If they need to use the bathroom between recess and study would be best.
Locked doors
Please make sure the following doors are closed and locked if you are passing by and see them open: 8th grade locker room, chromebook room, sensory room. Feel free to refer kids to the office if they are asking for access and you don't have time to wait with them.
Danger of Retention
Please check your advisees for anyone in danger of retention or summer school classes. We need to let students and families know as soon as possible. I am available to support conferencing with kids and families.
Outdoor Recess
Please be mindful of returning on-time from the last recess. They are heading into an instructional class so please make sure they are back to the 3rd floor no later 12:45 for class, a few minutes earlier if they need to visit lockers.
RICAS
RICAS dates and schedule are available on the Hub. We will complete testing before we leave for break. The RICAS Resource Center has released items and practice tests. I will come to Grade Level Meetings and be after school Tuesday and Thursday for anyone with any questions and concerns about administering and proctoring tests.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday, April 11th 4 to 6:30. Feedback from parents from the first session was that daytime did not work for them and that 5 minutes to meet with the whole team was insufficient. In addition, it was challenging to supervise the school with only a few staff to free everyone up to meet during the day. We are going to try offering slots by individual teachers rather than teams. If there is a larger concern behavior or academic please schedule a team meeting with the parent that offers sufficient time to cover it.
Grodon Center Trainings
Please make time to join us for the Grodon Center training series. The 4 1.5 hour presentations are being specifically designed to support us in creating toolboxes to better understand and manage the needs of our current population. This is meant to empower our faculty and staff and decrease the amount of stress on all of us. All sessions are from 2:45 to 4:15. The dates are: 3/20, 4/1, 5/1, 5/15.
Pineapple Chart
I am challenging all staff to participate in the Pinapple Chart as both a host and observer (those without classes are encouraged to observe classrooms they don't normally see!) from now until April break. Please sign up as a host before that date!
Student Shout Outs!
Please let us know if you have any student shout outs for town meeting this week!
Cups
Please remind students we do not provide cups if they request a pass to the office for one. If students forget their water bottles they must use the 4th floor bubbler for the day.
