The holiday season is a favorite time of year for many of us at Finley Farms Elementary. I personally love the enthusiasm on full display, special activities our teachers facilitate with students and the general boost in happy vibes as we look for ways to give to others. Here at The Farm we are in the spirit of giving with our Be a Hero Blood Drive recently completed and PTSO's Angel Tree opportunity open for one more week. If you haven't already done so, please consider stopping by the Front Office to adopt an Angel from our tree. I’m proud to be a member of such an involved and supportive community as we work together to positively impact others through compassionate service. As a result of your participation in our events, our students are able to see firsthand the influence each person is capable of within our society.
This time of year has been a busy one inside the school as well. We had a wonderful turnout at our PTSO Movie Night and the generous gift donations we collected during the event are on their way to those less fortunate at Sunshine Acres Children's Home. Last week our holiday concerts from Band and Orchestra were exceptional! We have one more opportunity to catch Falcon musicians as our Chorus Club will follow up their special performance over the weekend at the Riparian Preserve with a performance on campus Thursday (12/13) at 6:30pm. Continuing with extracurricular opportunities, the Falcons involved in Running Club recently completed their second Running Meet at Quartz Hill Elementary with a number of our student-athletes placing at the competition.
With another week and a half remaining prior to Winter Break we will continue with our action packed final stretch during the 2nd quarter of the school year. Upcoming we have Pajama Day on Friday, December 14th for our monthly StuCo Spirit Day. Next week we will finish out the 1st semester with PTSO Restaurant Night at Chipotle in San Tan Village Marketplace on Tuesday, December 18th, a 1st Grade Field Trip to see Ella Enchanted at Herberger Theatre on December 20th, and our Half-Day on Friday, December 21st will be filled with activities including Best Buddies Gingerbread Decorating and Field Day for 2nd & 3rd Grade students.
As always, thank you for your support of Finley Farms Elementary. The time and energy you dedicate to supporting your kids and partnering with us to meet their needs is remarkable. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy the extended time with your child(ren) over Winter Break.
Happy Holidays,
-Mr. Bassett
