Meet our New Ravinia Staff!
Angela Nichols, Special Education Long Term Substitute
Milos Stojiljkovic, PE Guest Teacher for Melissa Coughlin
I finished college in Serbia and earned a Bachelor degree of Physical Education. Currently, I am working on my master's degree in sports management and obtaining my PEL. I joined NSSD112 in 2009 and since then I have worked as a guest (substitute) teacher, long term PE substitute teacher and paraprofessional. I have completed long term substitute PE positions in five of the NSSD112 schools in the last two years. This is my third time as a long term PE teacher at Ravinia. Beside subbing I work as a full time soccer coach for Chicago Fire Northshore and Team Evanston Soccer club. I do posses a USSF National "B" license. My favorite soccer team is FK Partizan Belgrade and my favorite athlete is tennis player Novak Djokovic.
I love to spend my free time with my wife and kids, playing soccer with friends, reading and watching tennis or soccer. We usually spend our summers in Europe where our whole family is. While we are there we enjoy trips to Greece and wonderful beaches. In the winter we enjoy skiing in Wisconsin, Colorado or Utah.
I am looking forward to meeting all of the students and happy to see old colleagues again!
Flu Season: Symptoms and Guidelines for return to school
With the flu season in full swing, we would like to remind everyone that if your child has flu symptoms, they should not attend school. Symptoms to watch for include:
With the flu, fever is usually present, along with chills, headache, and moderate-to-severe body aches and tiredness.
Symptoms can come on rapidly, within three to six hours.
Coughs are dry and unproductive and sore throats are less common, but may be present.
If your child has recently been ill, please be aware of the following guidelines before having them return to school: they must be fever-free for at least 24 hours WITHOUT the aid of medication.
To help keep your children healthy, make sure they get plenty of rest and eat a good, nutritious diet, with plenty of fluids. Make sure they are dressed properly when playing outside.
The single most important thing you can do to keep your child free of illness is to teach the proper way to wash hands. Make sure to use soap and scrub hands for 20 seconds (2 verses of "Happy Birthday"). Rinse hands in running water and dry thoroughly.
Please notify the school if your child has been diagnosed with influenza.
From the Library
Ravinia is excited to host a visiting author for ALL grade levels. Barb Rosenstock will be with us on Tuesday, March 3rd. We will be discussing her books during library classes for the next couple of weeks and getting to know more about her from her website. Please feel free to explore on your own at home as well. https://barbrosenstock.com/
If you are interested in purchasing an autographed book please print, fill out and return the attached form by Tuesday, Feb 26.
Thank you to the 112 Foundation for sponsoring this event.
Day of Service
Did You Know?
Are you missing gloves, snow pants, coats, hats, or water bottles at your house? Our lost and found is overflowing! We can't get the items back to their owners as most of them do not have names written in them. As always, you are free to stop by the school and check out the lost and found!
