Weekly Wrap-Up #33
Benedict A. Cucinella Elementary School
“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” – Albert Einstein
Cucinella's hallways have been buzzing with activity in the recent weeks and last week was no different.
Monday capped off our staff fundraiser for the Autism Speaks Foundation. The staff collected over $400 for this worthwhile cause. Thank you to all who participated.
Wednesday we celebrated Administrative Professionals Day and used the opportunity to show thanks to our wonderful office staff, Mrs. Dargel and Mrs. Varatharajan! Throughout the day students dropped off letters of appreciation and other tokens of thanks. Mrs. Postigo brought one of her classes to come and sing a song to them! All and all, many thanks were showered on these two wonderful people, Deanna and Boomi, thank you for everything you do to keep Cucinella running!
On Thursday, the building was full of visitors as it was "Bring Your Child To Work Day". Many staff members brought their children along with them for the day and they got the opportunity to see school from their parent's point of view. The students enjoyed the opportunity to meet the children of their teachers and aides. The school day was full of fun activities that got everyone involved, students, staff and visitors. Thank you to Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Plumbo for setting up the schedule and activities for our visitors!
Thursday night was our Arts-RAGEOUS event. The building was full with students showing off their artistic side to their families and friends. Special thanks to Mrs. Bartnicki, Mrs. Postigo, and Ms. Scrimo for all their work putting together this awesome event. Thank you to the PTO volunteers who helped behind the scenes, we could not have pulled off the event without you!
Lastly, on Friday we were visited by some furry friends when Travis from Eyes of the Wild animal conservatory came. During his presentation to our students, he shared funny stories and anecdotes about the animals and discussed how students can help protect their habitats. We had a skunk, snake, crocodile, hedgehog, and wallaby come visit our students. The children had a great time learning about the animals and seeing them up close. Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this engaging assembly.
