Welcome to a new and exciting 2021-2022 school year! For those of you returning to McBee, WELCOME BACK! To our new bumblebees and their families, WE ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE YOU! We promise a year filled with great academic, social, and emotional growth.

At Frank & Sue McBee we are committed to developing our students minds and hearts by providing quality education based on the principles of equity, inclusion, and social justice. We believe in the importance of including students’ cultural references in all aspects of learning. For that reason, it is imperative to have a strong communication between school staff and families, and that we are all committed to an anti-bias education.

Our goal is to teach ALL our students to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. We commit to cultivating a growth mindset in our students, so that they understand and believe that through hard work and effort their abilities and knowledge will increase.

This year will be a transcending one. We recognize the struggles of the last year and a half due to the COVID Pandemic and school closures. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your children’s learning by ensuring that they:

  1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
  2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
  3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
  4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of their school life
  5. Informs you if they need additional academic, social and/or emotional support
  6. Knows that you expect them to succeed

We invite you to save this, the Frank & Sue McBee’s Bumblebees News link, so that you can stay informed about all school-wide news and information. Your children’s teachers will also share class specific information with you, and will make sure to keep various lines of communication with you regarding your child. Please, reach out to your teacher first when you have a question or concern. By all means call Ms. Huerta, the Assistant Principal, or me, if you still have additional questions or concerns.

A message to McBee Families/ Mensaje a nuestras familias de McBee- 2/20/21

Dear McBee Families,

Our hearts are with you during these hard times and with everyone who suffered through the terrible winter storms. Many of you may still be out of power and/or water. Please, let me know if you are one of those families, so we can try to help. If you are in critical need, please respond to this email or contact your teacher. Your teachers will let us know and we will contact you. Currently our school is being worked on because it is without water, and some areas without heat. Since this is the current situation in many schools in our District, our central office leadership concluded that we will need time to restore power and repair damages caused by the storms. The following will be the schedule for next week:

February 22,23- Monday & Tuesday- Campus is closed. No school for students

February 24- Wednesday & Thursday- Virtual learning. Students connect with their teachers remotely.

February 25- Friday- Asynchronous learning. Students work on independent assignments and turn in work remotely.

Please, know that at all teachers and staff are anxiously waiting for a safe return to on campus instruction. As soon as our building is safe, we will communicate that to you. If you are a parent who chose virtual learning due to Covid 19, you will continue to have that choice, and your children will continue online instruction.

Our cafeteria staff is working on a schedule for curbside food distribution for next week. As soon as their schedule is worked out, I will send you the information. Also, the Water Park Typhoon Lagoon and Target in Stone Hill in Pflugerville are distributing water at no cost. Please, bring your empty containers if you need fresh water. If you do not have transportation to those places, let me know and we can find a way to bring it to you.

Please, stay safe.

Sincerely, Yvette Celorio-Reyes, Principal

McBee Elementary

Atentamente, Yvette Celorio-Reyes, Directora

October 19, 2020 Update

Hello, McBee Families!

These are some reminders for students who are receiving on-campus instruction:

  • When you are dropping off students at 7:30, everyone in the vehicle must be wearing a mask over their nose and mouth before we can approach the car to screen students.
  • The tardy bell is at 7:45 AM.
  • When you are dropping off students, please make sure you are driving slowly. Keep in mind that we have staff members helping students get off cars, and walkers crossing the road. Some drivers are speeding off after dropping off students, and we must keep everyone safe.
  • If your child was absent because he/she was running a fever of 100 or higher, you will need to bring back a doctor's note stating that the child can return to school. The student must be free of a temperature for 24 hours without medication before returning to school. If parents choose to not take the student to the doctor the child must stay home for 10 school days and be symptoms free before returning to school.
  • If you have chosen virtual instruction for your child, and change your mind, you have to wait until the next grading period to start on-campus instruction, which is October 26.
  • Students must bring bottled water to school every day, since they do not have access to water fountains.
  • Please, see the attached map to review drop off locations. 2nd-5th graders who have younger siblings are dropped off at station #2. 5th-2nd graders only are dropped off at station #1. PreK-1st graders are dropped off at station #4. Screen Shot 2020-10-16 at 8.54.22 AM (1).png

These are some reminders for students who are receiving virtual instruction:

  • Students MUST follow the teacher's daily schedule. Instruction begins at 8:00 and end at 3:08.
  • Students MUST be engaged and their cameras turned ON. For safety reasons, students who choose to keep their cameras off will be excluded from the zoom class and marked absent. The teachers must be able to see every person in the zoom call to make sure no unauthorized persons are in the call.
  • Grades will reflect amount of students work, participation, and completion of assignments.

October 12, 2020 Update

This week we continue welcoming our McBee Bumblebee students to on-campus learning based on our Phase-In Schedule for Parents who Chose On Campus Learning.docx. Our teachers and staff have been working tirelessly to prepare and organize safe classrooms for everyone and phenomenal online and face-to-face instruction!

As you know, all students and staff are required to conduct morning screenings to be on campus. If a student does not pass a screening test, please follow these Guidelines for a Safe Return to campus.
