Principal's Message
A letter from Dr. Boeve
I want to give a BIG Thank You to our Briggs Community for your generosity and thoughtfulness throughout the month of November. Your donation of canned and boxed food allowed us to deliver two truckloads of Thanksgiving meals to the HOPE Center.
December promises to be equally as busy with an Associated Student Body (ASB) sponsored Toy Drive. All donated toys will be delivered to Isaiah’s Rock. This fits well with our Character Trait of the Month, COMPASSION. Compassion motivates people to put forth a selfless effort in helping the physical, mental, or emotional pains of another and themselves. Compassion is often regarded as having sensitivity, which is an emotional aspect to suffering.
As always, we wish to express our sincere gratitude toward our entire school community. We would not be the amazing school that we are without the help and support of all of you. Have a safe, healthy, and happy Holiday Season.
How To Support Student Learning At Home
Parents/guardians are a student's first teachers, and the home is a student’s first classroom. Parents/guardians help shape a child’s social, emotional, and physical development so that he/she can thrive in school and beyond. Engaged parents/guardians are a key factor in helping students and schools succeed. When families, schools and communities work together as partners, student achievement is enhanced, and children are better prepared to do well in school. As a parent, you can do your part at home to reinforce this important home-school partnership. Here are 10 tips to strengthen the home-school partnership:
- Set up a daily family routine, including healthy eating and sleeping habits
- Provide a place and time at home for homework
- Check on assignments, homework, and projects
- Talk each day with your student about his/her activities
- Promote literacy by reading to your student and by reading yourself
- Limit and monitor TV watching, gaming, social media, and computer time
- Express high expectations and standards for your student's learning
- Attend parent-teacher conferences, Open House and Back-To-School events
- Participate in decisions that affect your student’s education
- Tap into community resources with visits to a library, museum, zoo or theater and encourage participation in after-school clubs, sports and art activities.
Drop off and Pick up Safety Reminders:
Gates for all students, having breakfast, opens at 7:30am.
100 Mile Club starts at 7:40am
To ensure our students’ safety, do not double park (or stop anywhere in the parking lot) and ask your student to cross the parking lot or walk between cars to get to the entrance gate. This is not safe
If you not chose not to use the designated drop-off and pick-up lane, you may use the sidewalk.
Families parking on Roswell Avenue, PLEASE use the designated crosswalk in front of the school where our crossing guard is on duty. Every day we see families jaywalking, and stopping traffic on Roswell Avenue, which is illegal, obstructs motion traffic, and this is not safe. Please take a couple of extra minutes to use the crosswalk.
