A Message from the Principal
Dear ABE Families,
With the weather getting better, more students are walking or riding their bike to school and we are on the playground more often, so I thought it would be a good time to review some safety tips and school rules:
Students riding their bike to and from school must get off and walk their bike across the crosswalk.
Skateboards and scooters are not allowed in the school and if students choose to ride them to school must be kept outside on the bike rack.
When crossing the crosswalk students must wait for the crossing guard to wave them across once they have stopped traffic. Students must be sure to walk and not run.
Review with children what to do in case a stranger approaches them or asks them to get into their car on the way to and from school.
With the warmer weather, we begin to shed those winter clothes for our summer clothes (shorts, tank tops, etc). Please remember the following:
Clothing must cover all private areas completely with a fabric that is neither transparent or translucent and must cover midriff.
Open toe shoes (example: flip flops, some sandals, dress shoes) should not be worn at school.
If an item being worn doesn’t meet the requirements above, it could be as simple as having them put on something else they may have here at school or calling a parent to have them bring the appropriate attire. Thanks for all you do!
Sincerely,
Mr. B

Service Learning Day - May 3, 2019
Al Behrman Elementary will be taking part in our 7th annual Service Learning Day on May 3. We began this program seven years ago with the purpose of teaching our students about giving back to their community. We do this in honor of Al Behrman and all he gave to us! On this day, we travel out to various sites in our community to volunteer our time and provide a service to our community programs.
We will be leaving school around 12:40p.m. and will be returning to ABE around 2:45p.m. (Students will not be available for early departure from school during these times.) Since we will be outside at most of these sites, please make sure that your child(ren) dresses appropriately for the weather (i.e., older shoes and clothing, jacket - if weather is still cool, etc.)
We are looking forward to another successful Service Learning Day for our ABE students!
Thank you!
The Service Learning Committee
WE SAVE...WE COLLECT...WE EARN...
We also save Pop Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and the class with the most weight at the end of May will receive a Root Beer Float party.
