Having Fun in Year 1!

This term we have been mastering our numeracy skills in engaging hands-on activities such as creating crafty addition cupcakes and subtraction monsters, using abacus mats to make numbers into the hundreds and creating place value robots. In Religion we have been focusing on our wonderful bodies that God gave us and how we use them in different ways through skipping, hopping, jumping and making marvellous music. For Earth Day, we looked at the importance of protecting God’s Creation and decided to re-use newspaper to make Earth Day posters, remembering that it is up to us to keep our world beautiful.

We have had so much fun learning in Year 1!

Prayer for Confirmation Candidates:

Lord, You send out Your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people,

so that they may believe in You and in Jesus whom You sent.

Look kindly on all candidates for Confirmation as they listen to Your voice.

Open their hearts to Your Spirit and bring to fulfilment the good work

that You have begun in them.

As we prepare these children for Confirmation, make each of us an instrument of Your love.

Teach us to appreciate what is holy in others,

and to be patient with what we do not understand.

Deepen our faith in the Gospel and help us to pass it on by our example.

We pray that You will continue to guide us and sustain us.

Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

Year 6 Confirmation

Yesterday our Year 6 Confirmation candidates met with Bishop Donald Sproxton who will be celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation for our students on Sunday. We ask you to keep our Confirmation candidates in your prayers. We thank Mr John Croxford and Mrs Fillipone for preparing the children to receive this Sacrament.

No Student Mobile Phones at School

I would like to remind all parents and carers that mobile phones are not permitted at school. If your child needs a mobile phone because you need to get hold of them after school or for safety reasons like when they are walking home, please contact the front office to let us know that your child will be bringing a phone to school. If a child has permission to have a phone at school, the phone must be kept at the front office during the school day and collected at the end of the school day.

Naplan Complete

All our Year 3 and 5 students have now completed their Naplan tests and apart from one or two minor issues with technology, the testing process ran smoothly. A big thank you to our Year 3 teachers, Ms Mikulich, Mrs Calleja and Mrs Henery and our Year 5 teachers, Ms Challis and Ms Smith as well as Ms Ryan and Ms Zanetti for ensuring that the children were well prepared to take these tests and that all systems and supports were in place to ensure a smooth testing process.

Year 4 Assembly

Our Year 4 assembly is on Friday to which our Year 4 parents are invited. We ask that if you are attending, you maintain social distancing between families.

God bless you all.
