- The first workshop, Embracing Your Child's Uniqueness: Turning Obstacles into Opportunities, will be presented on Tuesday, February 26th, and will focus on helping parents to not only accept each child for who they are, but to celebrate their individuality and uniqueness. Together parents and educators will share strategies for success, resources for support and suggestions for next steps with their education. As a bonus, 10 lucky registrants will receive a copy of the workshop’s companion book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck.
- A week later, the SBPA continues its focus on our students with different needs, shining a light on the District’s Department of Special Services, with a workshop entitled, Different Avenues on the Road to Our Students’ Success. Presented on Tuesday, March 5th, this workshop will offer attendees personalized, small group discussions about the systems the District has in place to support students, through the Department of Student Services. Workshop breakout sessions will provide parents with information about the District’s tiered system of supports, mental health services, Social Emotional Learning, and its approach to promoting and supporting all students’ overall health and wellness.
As with all SBPA workshops, the workshops are provided free of charge and childcare can be provided for children over 3.
Registration for the workshops and/or childcare can be done online on the Parent Academy Workshops page on the District website or by going to https://bit.ly/2IEEb50.
