Updates and Reminders...
Tomorrow is a Professional Development Day! Bagels, sweets and coffee will be served in the student dining room at 8:00--it's just our way of saying how much we appreciate you.
The day is fully Teacher Directed . What does that mean? Well...all CTU teaching staff may use the day to work on grades, plan for instruction, complete their units, organize their classrooms, or collaborate with other teachers.
ESPs will receive a schedule from Gina in the morning.
Friday Lunch Schedule
Lunch for ESPs will be from 11:00-11:30 and teaching staff will be 11:30-12:15.
Please sign out if you plan on leaving the building.
Grades are due at 5:00 pm. Make sure that you take time to go through all of your grades to ensure that there are no issues with Aspen.
The building will close tomorrow at 5:30 pm. Staff members should not be in the building later than 5:15 pm so that we are able to alarm.
Mandatory Webinars
As a CPS employee you are required to register for/watch the following webinars:
- Protecting Chicago's Children
- NWEA for Testers and Proctors
- Guidelines on the Support of Transgender and Gender Non Conforming Students
- Chronic Conditions Webinar
- Sexual Harassment Webinar
Most of you took care of these webinars in August, however if you were hired after September 1, 2019 you will need to register for each on the Learning Hub.
You can go into "My Learning" to verify that you have taken the above webinars.
Paper Goods Needed
Ms. Scampini is out of paper towels and kleenex and would love to take any extras off your hands. If you have an abundance, feel free to donate:)
Building Cleanliness
We are working closely with Sodexo to ensure that our classrooms, hallways, enrichment spaces and restrooms are cleaned on a daily basis. If you notice that something hasn't been cleaned, please contact me via email. Try to take some time tomorrow to purge your classroom of unwanted garbage or materials. Contact the office if you need large garbage bags.
Month of Kindness
At the end of the month you provide clues to your identity and on February 28th you will try to guess the name of your secret person. It's really a lot of fun! I'll be around the building on Friday with a bag of names. If you're not here on Friday, I will pick a name for you!
Not sure what to leave your "person"? I asked around and here are some suggestions:
Sweet treats like a piece of candy or some cookies
A nice card or hand-written note
Fun post-it notes
A gift certificate for coffee
A book or magazine
A can of pop or flavored water
A salty snack like popcorn or pretzels
Lottery ticket
A flower or small plant
We suggest that you try to give your "person" something at least once a week. Again, it's not about how much you spend or how many gifts you receive, it's about the thought behind the gift. The ultimate goal is to spread happiness:)
Clerk's Corner
If you mark a student tardy please write the time that they arrived in your classroom on your attendance sheet. When you submit your attendance on Aspen the time for tardy students shows as submission time. Parents are able to see the submission time and are questioning the time of the tardy. With that being said, we will adjust all tardies in the office so that they reflect actual arrival time written on your attendance sheet. If a student arrives with a late pass, don't worry about submitting or writing the time, we will take care of those for you.
Requests from Kevin
Make sure that your boys know that they only need to flush the urinal one time. Boys have been repeatedly flushing the urinal and it in turn overflows. This has happened numerous times in the second floor annex bathroom.
Just Ask Jess
Just a quick reminder please make sure that students who have MTSS interventions logged in Aspen, especially those who you think may be referring, need to not only have MTSS interventions placed in Aspen but also MTSS notes/data. These notes are used for referral process along with the data being used by the team. It is important to have this information before I call a referral meeting. Sorry I know this is a pain. So if you need help or a refresher of how to do invite me to help, I can come to a grade level.....Just ask Jess
