NEW this year!
Elementary Teachers
If you are a special areas teacher, please start thinking of how you might support parents and teachers during these times. Suggestions are to have "open-gym" with activities supervised by the PE teacher, open the computer lab and walk parents through setting up parent portal or google classroom, create fun music activities for children to engage young siblings so that parents can focus on the meeting with the teacher. These are only suggestions and those details would need to be worked out with your campus administrator.
Small Schools Co-Op
Krum, Ponder, Sanger, Argyle, Pilot Point, and Aubrey have partnered to provide free PD over the summer months for teachers working within these districts. To see the catalog, please log into the Region XI website. Go to "Browse Catalog" and click on "district specific". You will see the choices available as offered by teacher volunteers. A big thank you to those that offered to share their time and talent to teach a course. These listings are not live yet, but should be soon. Nancy Shipley will send an email once this happens.
Gifted and Talented
If you have had the initial 30 hours, you will need to get a 6 hour GT yearly update. The training will specify of the hours will be for GT credit.
T-TESS
LoneStar TIA Conference
People travel from all over to come to this conference and it takes place in our own backyard. It is very reasonably priced and you can expect to get many great ideas! They are also searching for presenters who can add to their conference. I know many of you would be excellent candidates.

State Compliance Training
Region XI is offering all of the yearly state mandated training this year like they did last year. Each employee needs to complete the following training sessions over the summer months.
- Blood Borne Pathogens
- Bullying
- Dating Violence
- Suicide Prevention
- Sexual Abuse, Child Abuse, and Maltreatment of Children
- Sexual Harassment
- FERPA
- 504
- Texas Code of Ethics for School Personnel
- Internet Safety
This will count as one comp. day for your summer. Retain needed documentation for proof of completion. You will find the selections for the 2017-2018 state compliance training course posted around June 1st. Please do not make the mistake of taking your courses early as they will count for THIS school year and you will need retake them. I appreciate how efficient some of you are, but would like to protect your time.
Go to register in the right hand corner. Then click the words "compliance" in the lower right hand corner. You should be able to register for all the videos at one time.
