A BIG THANK YOU!
Mr. Kirbo and Mrs. Owens want to thank the 3rd and 4th grade parents who volunteered during the skating unit. The skating unit is a favorite of our students. Without the help of parent volunteers, it would not be possible to help so many students learn how to skate. Thank you for being so generous with your time. We truly appreciate you!
GIRLS ON THE RUN For the Fall
GOTR is a program that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind! Next fall Powell Elementary will once again be a site for Girls on the Run (GOTR). During this 10-week program, the girls will develop essential skills to help them establish lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The girls will positively impact their community through a service project and physically and emotionally prepare for a celebratory 5K event! It will be open to girls in 3rd and 4th grade.
We have several teachers that will be coaches but we are also looking for some parent coaches to help out with the program. If you would like to help coach you will need to: commit to the 10 week program, be able to meet 1-2 days/week, go through GOTR coach's training, and be CPR certified by the American Red Cross.
The coach’s training will be on either June 6th, July 31st, August 3rd, August 13th or August 24th from 9-2 at GOTR headquarters or at Powell on August 8th from 4-9.
If you are interested in helping out with this program please contact Pam Owens by email at powens@conroeisd.net.
Thanks so much for considering helping out with this AWESOME program!
