Dance Class News
The 8th Count Dance Center
CLASSES BEGIN TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 (EXCEPT MISS KATIE'S CLASSES START THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY)!!
Welcome Back!
We have an exciting dance year planned for you! This newsletter is filled with information covering the beginning of the dance year. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to someone in the office at your earliest convenience. Email is the best way to reach someone at the8thcount@yahoo.com. Miss Bessie will be in the office Tuesday and Thursday evening, and Mr. Rick will be in the office on Monday evenings with appointments available on Fridays.
Your teachers this year are Miss Emily, Miss Katie, and Miss Bessie. We request that you keep all communications for the dance year as you receive them from our staff. You will be receiving information about your participation in our annual recital in June closer to the end of the season, as well as our Christmas program date. We welcome your comments and suggestions regarding any of our policies or procedures at any time.
Please note that our waiting room is made available for the convenience of our students and their families. We have specific parent observation weeks built into the yearly schedule for your convenience and we ask that parents/grandparents abide by those viewing weeks. When coming downstairs we ask that you take your shoes off. We understand that our waiting room is small and the more the cubbies are used for shoes, the better.
We request that you arrive at the studio with adequate time to prepare for class, parking, changing, restroom, etc. Parents, for your children’s safety, please be available in the waiting room to receive students when dismissed from class. Please call whenever delayed for class start time or pickup.
We ask that all students come to class in the proper dance attire. We understand schedules running to and from other activities and coming right from school but we ask that like any other sport, you pack a bag with proper clothing (NO JEANS), including dance shoes, hair tie, water, and snack.
If you have any questions about our policies, about tuition payment, dress code, and other important studio information, please read below. If you add/drop/transfer classes, you must fill out the form posted below. This will help with billing as well as costume ordering. We must order costumes very early to get them in time for our recital. Costume deposits will not be refunded after the deposit deadline if a class is dropped. If it is transferred, you can just transfer the deposit toward another costume assuming the costumes have not been ordered already.
Please note our small price increase across all classes beginning on September 3rd. The 8th Count Dance Center has not raised its prices in the ten years we have been in operation. This tiny increase is necessary in order to keep up with inflation and the increase in overhead from year to year. If you have any questions about our new pricing, please do not hesitate to ask via email, phone or in person with during office hours. We appreciate your business!
We welcome your comments and suggestions. If any parent/student wishes a private conference concerning your individual dancer goals or financial concerns, please do not hesitate to ask. We are happy to work with you to ensure that your dance year will be one of pleasure and growth. The entire faculty and staff wish you a fantastic year of dance!
Have a great week, the T8C Team

Policies 2019-2020
- Tuition is based on the entire year, but for your convenience is broke into monthly payments. Full payment for all monthly classed is due the 1st class of each month ($15 late fee assessed after the 10th). You may pay the tuition in full for the dance season or pay monthly.
- Tuition, registration fees, costume payments, competition fees, and performance tickets are non-refundable (if tuition was paid for the full year in advance, reimbursement for discontinued classes when notified in advance).
- You are charged for all classes registered for, not just the ones attended. If discontinuing classes all together, please speak with the office first. If a problem cannot be remedied, you must fill out a withdrawal form. An adult, not a minor must fill out the form. Leaving a message is not a form of withdrawal.
- All students pay a $15 registration fee at the time of registration (August/September). $25 per family.
- Monthly dance newsletters will be emailed throughout the dance season. The informative dance letters will keep you up to date on important dates, times, what's going on in the studio, tuition reminders, costume payments, recital information, holiday breaks, make-up classes, fundraisers, extra practices, parades/festivals/competitions etc. Other emails and calls may be made throughout the month. It is your responsibility to make sure we have the proper phone number and email.
- Regular attendance is important to keep up with dance. When an absence occurs, make up classes are not available. Your tuition is for 4 weeks in a month. Sometimes there are 5 weeks, your bonus. These extra days built into the schedule are sometimes used for snow days (depends on your class day). If a class needs made up, the instructor will choose the date and inform you.
- There is no "credit" given for missed classes and no refunds for partial months. Tuition is still expected in full.
- The 8th Count is not responsible for student property. Any student destroying or damaging The 8th Count Dance Center or other people's property at The 8th Count Dance Center will promptly be dismissed.
- The 8th Count Dance Center has a dress code. Please follow all dress codes!!
- All students' belongings must be kept neat. Please do not leave coats, boots, shoes, bags, food wrappers etc. lying around.
- The 8th Count Dance Center puts on a yearly recital. Recital is optional but rehearsal is mandatory for any one who wants to participate in recital. All balances must be paid in full before recital. Look for costume deposit dates in the newsletter.
- If your child is attending any class other than Tiny Tots, they need to attend alone. This policy will be at the discretion of the instructor. You will be allowed to visit during the scheduled parent observation weeks.
- Staff and parents of The 8th Count Dance Center might take pictures or video during the year of students. These pictures are used in promotional articles, ads, website, studio Facebook page and throughout the studio. If you wish for your child's photo NOT to be used, you must submit it in writing. Note - your students name will not be posted with picture.
- Encourage all students to wait inside the studio until a designated person picks them up. We can't always watch outside the building and can't be responsible. It is important that all students get home safely.
- Older students who are permitted (by parents) to go next door for food should wear cover-ups over dance clothes. Do not wear dance shoes on the sidewalk (or go barefoot). If leaving the studio during a break, students should get permission from his/her parent. Parents should discuss age, boundaries, and the buddy system if students are allowed to leave the studio. Teachers and staff are not responsible once a dancer leaves the studio.
- Students are not permitted to bring any drink other than water into classrooms. No food, candy, or gum on the dance floor. Students need to get in the habit of using the restroom before and after class.
- All students should be responsible for cleaning up after themselves. All food should stay upstairs in the waiting area and be cleaned up after consumption.
- Students with private dance lessons need to give a 24-hour notice of anticipated absence. Without official notice, full tuition will be charged for that day.
- The 8th Count Dance Center will continue charging tuition and will place costume order unless office has prior written notice of un-enrollment . This must be turned into the office manager.
- Company dancers understand that a separate contract is required.
