The Proud Pirate

Week of June 1, 2020

A Newsletter for the Friends and Families of Furry Elementary! The Perkins Family strives for unsurpassed educational opportunities so every student may achieve their greatest potential.

It's Our Last Week of School!

And it's unlike any other last week of school ever!

I can't thank you all enough for all of your work and flexibility the past 11 or so weeks of school. This has truly been an adventure for all of us and I'm so lucky to have been able to be on this journey with our Furry staff, families and children.

Please look for one more newsletter being sent to you and your child on our last day of school. It will be filled with messages from our staff for you and your child!

Mrs. Yost

One Last Goodbye and Welcome Summer Drive-Thru Celebration!

Just a reminder that due Friday's weather, we moved our celebration to Monday, June 1. All are welcome to drive through our front parking lot and wave to our teachers anytime between 12:00-2:00.

Please remember to stay in your car and drive safely as you wave to our staff. We'll be in our masks while maintaining social's going to be hard for us! We all just want to give your children high fives and hugs...they've worked so hard and we are so proud of them!

Feel free to make a few rounds if you choose to do so!

School Supplies

We still have school supplies that need to be picked up. If you are able to come to our Drive-Thru Celebration, please let your child's teacher know so that they can have your supplies ready. When they see you, they can quick put them in your car for you with limited contact. All of our school supplies are in our gym so it's important for you to contact your child's teacher ahead of time if you are wanting to pick them up during the celebration.

For those of you who can't make it to our celebration on Monday and still need to pick up your supplies, you can stop by school on Thursday, June 4, 5:00-7:00. Simply pull into the front parking lot, drive around the loop and park. An adult will come to your car to help you. If you know that you'll be coming on Thursday evening, please email Mrs. Yost ( so that she can have your supplies ready and waiting for you!

Our yearbooks have arrived and our teachers are making arrangements to get them to you! If you are planning on coming to the celebration on Monday, please let your child's teacher know so that they can have your child's yearbook ready to give to you.

Lost and Found

We have a few items in our Lost and Found. We can't permit you or your child to come into the building to look through and retrieve any items but we will hang them along the fence of our small playground on Monday so that you can view them during our celebration. If you see something that belongs to you, just park your car along the street and come and get it off of the fence.

Any items remaining will be donated to Goodwill or Care and Share.

Library Books

All library books need to be returned to school by Monday, June 1. Please feel free to bring them to our celebration and simply hand them to any adult. We'll be sure to get them to the library. If you have questions about your child's library book, please email Mrs. Thompson at

Stuff the Bus

Please feel free to complete the online registration form to receive school supplies this fall. Although we don't know for sure what "back to school" will look like, our community would still like to step up and help our families.

You can complete the registration form by clicking here: VacationLand Federal Credit Union Stuff the Bus

The deadline for registration is June 26 and parents can register their children entering grades K-5.

We're so grateful to VacationLand Federal Credit Union for continuing this initiative to help all of the families in our community.

Chrome Books

The district has decided to let our students keep their Chromebooks for the summer. Additional information will be shared with you regarding how to receive support throughout the summer if you need tech assistance.

If you have any questions about this, please email Mrs. Yost @

In an effort to streamline our support for home based learning, and to provide us with a standard point of contact for our students and their families, we have created

This is a team email address and all incoming and outgoing correspondence will be visible to our entire tech department, allowing us to address issues collaboratively and with greater efficiency. Please use this as your primary resource for obtaining technology assistance now and throughout the summer.

Google Meets and Zoom Meetings

Just a friendly reminder that when we're attending our learning sessions with our teachers and friends let's remember that the same rules apply at home as we have at school.

When you're meeting online, think of it like school and use your PERKS!

P is for Pride

Have pride in who you are and what you're learning. Be prompt, dressed for school and ready to learn.

E is for Engaged

Be engaged in the lesson your teacher is teaching you. If you have a question, ask!

R is for Respect

Respect others in your chat. Mute your microphone when you're not speaking and try not to interrupt others.

K is for Kind

Be kind to one another. Even online! Kind words and manners are a must!

S is for Safe

Please do not join any google meets or zoom meetings with people you don't know. If your computer is acting funny, ask an adult to help you.
