Hi Families,
With the exception of today, winter weather seems to be upon us. Students will be going outside for recess unless the temperature is below 20 degrees with wind chill. Please send them to school dressed appropriately. I had one of those children who wanted to wear shorts all winter and no coat. I know the struggle is real! Have a wonderful weekend!
Best,
Amy

WINTER SPIRIT DAYS
December 15 - Winter Wonderland Whiteout Wednesday - Wear all white.
December 16 - Throwback Thursday -Wear anything old or outdated in style (ugly old sweater?)
December 17 - Festive Friday - Wear any holiday outfit. Celebrate you!
December 20 - Maybe it will snow Monday - Dress like a Snowman (scarf, hat, boots).
December 21 - Tuesday Snooze-day - Wear your PJs or comfortable clothes to school.
Please remember if you drop off your student(s) in the morning or pick up in the afternoon, you'll need to use the Car Line. Dropping off or picking up in the circle drive creates a difficult and sometimes dangerous situation for our students, van drivers and buses. We appreciate your cooperation.
Our school counselor, Beth Hill, is offering a “Families in Change” group this winter. This group is primarily designed for students who have parents that are separated or divorced. Our group will run for 8 weeks and will meet weekly for 30 minutes. Depending on family interest, each group will be capped at 6 and students will be clustered according to grade. There is the opportunity for siblings to participate together if desired. For questions or to express interest please email Mrs. Hill directly at: hille@sycamoreschools.org.
ATTENTION BAKERS OF ALL AGES…
We are in need of COOKIES, LOTS OF COOKIES! Our Make a Difference Program has once again partnered with Operation Give Back (OGB) to bring holiday cheer to the families they serve. The goal is for each family to receive a dozen cookies this holiday season to hopefully bring a smile and show how much we care. Grab your kids, the icing and sprinkles and make this a holiday season to remember. Sign up in the link below. For any questions please contact Holly Fitzwilson at trauthh_14@yahoo.com.
READATHON RESULTS:
Thank you Montgomery Families! With your incredible support, the PTO was able to raise over $14,000 which will go directly to supporting fall special requests - which this fall will be resupplying/rebuilding classroom libraries. This is a significant achievement and will materially impact availability and quality of literature for each student. Reading material available in the classroom is selected by each teacher and tailored to support the educational material presented for each class. It's also worth understanding that the books available in the classroom are different compared to those available in the library and are not constructed to meet the same durability standards - thus they tend to wear out more quickly. Without your support, none of this would be possible. Thank you!
To promote literacy, all students received a bookmark during this fundraiser. Students who participated earned prizes through their efforts and achievement of reading goals - individual prizes were correlated with student effort, not funds raised. The students received their prizes this week.
Additionally, the class who raised the most funds in each grade was awarded a pizza party generously donated by LaRosa's Blue Ash. Thank you LaRosa's! We are sincerely grateful for your support! The following classrooms earned a pizza party:
4th - Dollard
3rd - Csendes
2nd - Tierney
1st - Thomas
K - Osborn
Congratulations everyone!
As a final note, the PTO will be running a Boosterthon Fundraiser in February to support Spring Special Requests. Please keep an eye out for that event.
Respectfully,
Kristofer Johnston
Montgomery PTO President
will feature a themed collection of items that will be 10% off!
