Introduction:

How much do you think that you know about Jamestown? Three ships had left England carrying people that were in search for the New World, Jamestown Virginia. Many Native Americans came to Jamestown from Africa. Native Americans trusted John Smith because they thought that he was a good leader. Pocahontas saved John Smith in 1608. The Indian Chief and his tribe were going to club John Smith. After John Smith took over Jamestown and became their leader. The Native Americans

The Native Americans came to Jamestown from Africa in 1607. They settled their homes and planted crops to survive. Years after the Native Americans settled, that is when John Smith discovered their community in 1608. John Smith was taken over as their leader. The Native Americans trusted Smith from how much of a good leader he was.

Pocahontas to the Rescue

John Smith was captured by the Indian Chief Powhatan, in 1608. John Smith was in the forest with his Native American Tribe, and the indians of their chief, Powhatan captured him. The Indians fought Smith's tribe off. But as Smith was being captured, right about when Powhatan was about to club him, Pocahontas swiped through and saved the famous leader of Jamestown. She brought him back to Jamestown and helped his wounds. John has been grateful ever since.

As the leader of Jamestown, Captain John Smith tried to keep peace and establish trade with the Indians. He encouraged production in the colony, famously establishing the policy of, "NO WORK, NO FOOD!" Captain John Smith said that each healthy person shall gather as much supplies as he, Captain John Smith did each day or they would be banished. This did not apply for sick people. "History is the memory of time, the life of the dead and the happiness of the living." Quoted by John Smith before he died on June 21, 1631.

A Review of What You Learned:

Are you forgetting what you've learned? Well, here's a review! First the Native Americans arrived at Jamestown in 1607 in search for new land. Then they built stable homes on swampy land, planted crops, and raised animals for food. They named the colony Jamestown. Then in 1608, John Smith Discovered their community. He helped them with things, and they soon trusted him as their leader. Then one sunny day in the forest, Smith was captured by the Indian Chief, Powhatan. They took him to their fort and tried to club him. But thats when Pocahontas came to the rescue! She fought Powhatan and took Smith back to Jamestown, in was in 1608. John Smith helped the colony establishing the motto, "No Work, No Food!" Captain John Smith died on June 21, 1631.
