Thursday's Thoughts
April 27, 2017
Our students are putting in a lot of hard work this week. We have students who are working up until 2:30 on the TDA portion of SCReady. I truly believe that our hard work in focusing on writing, coming together as a school to implement our writing plan and the Ma'am strategy, determination that our students will succeed, and high expectations will pay off when test scores come back. I continue to be blown away by our students writing. The writing below is from Mrs. Park's class. We will be in testing mode until May 26th. For grades K-2, keep pushing to get students ready for the upcoming grade. Rock on CGE!
5th Grade Books
We have purchased the book My Wish For You for our 5th graders. I will place them in the workroom on the third grade hall as we do not have a free room. Please begin going by and signing them for our 5th graders. I know it takes some time to get this done. Last year, the books meant so much to our students. Thank you for taking the time to write notes in the books.
Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year
It is that time again where we nominate and vote on our Teacher of the Year and our Support Staff of the Year. I will place forms in your boxes tomorrow.
Fidget Spinners
Please help me to make sure students do not have the fidget spinners at school. They are becoming quite the distraction, and we want our kids to focus as much as possible.
Box Tops
Please remind your students to clip Box Tops and return the sheets to school. We are so excited about them receiving a $5 voucher which means they will really receive a $10 voucher to the bookfair. This is a wonderful way to get books to kids. Please promote this in your communication to parents. Also, include the bookfair in your newsletters. It will be the week of May 15th. I will be open each day from 7:30-3:30 with the exception of the 16th. It will remain open until 5:00 that afternoon. This will also be a good way for you to add to your classroom libraries with the BOGO advantage. :-)
