What was the 1960's counterculture?

A movement by american youth that rose in the 1960's and began to fade in the 1970's. The young people were said to be forming their own culture, rather the rest of america.

Hippie Movement

You were either hip or a square. Hippies valued freedom, nature, peace, intimacy, sharing, and spirituality. They did not want to live like the rest of america so they lived in parks or campsites in the woods. Living in those place in the nude made them feel free.

Drug Culture

The hippies used lots of marijuana and LSD. Using drugs made them feel like they were rebelling mainstream society.
