Avon East Monthly News

September 2021

Welcome Back!

East families,

We hope you've had a smooth transition back to school!

We've enjoyed having children back in the building doing what we love. Please continue to communicate with us if you're having any difficulty or have questions. We are here to create and maintain the best partnership we can with all our families.

Thank you in advance for your support, your commitment to your child's learning, and for collaborating with our teachers and staff this school year.

Have a wonderful year,

The Avon East Staff

Our office staff would like to extend a personal "thank you" to all of our parents for such a great start to the school year. Ms. Ourednik & Mrs. Frey, our school secretaries, do their very best every single day to make sure our office runs smoothly for the staff, students, and our families. Your patience and kindness towards them goes a long way!

Arrival & Dismissal

Car riders have been running smoothly at arrival and dismissal! A few things to note:

  • Be sure to have your child here by 8:45am to access the side car rider doors.
  • If you missed drop off (arrived after 8:45am) and staff is not still out front waiting on buses, you'll have to sign your child in (main office)
  • If you need a car rider tag, please email your teacher or call our office.
  • Have your ID ready for pick-up
  • Utilize the entire parking lot and follow the signs below.

Early Dismissals

Avon East requires written notes for any early dismissal. This ensures that our teachers are aware as well as the child. In addition, our office can better prepare when we know ahead of time. We understand that in special circumstances a phone call has to be made, but this should not be the norm. It creates disruption in the classroom and confuses the child when there is a midday change. We appreciate your cooperation with providing your teacher and our office with written notes for any early dismissals.

Water Bottles

Please label water bottles with you child's name on it. Many water bottles are left on buses and outside during breaks, so this is super helpful to us when we need to find the owner :) Thank you!

Lunch time

Whenever the weather cooperates, we will be eating outside! Teachers may be asking your child to bring a beach towel into school for this purpose and for any outside learning that will be taking place this school year.

SOUPer Bowl 2021

We will be collecting donations for CRS (Community Resource Services), starting on August 30th through September 10th for the Avon vs Lake varsity football game. CRS is an agency that provides needed items to those in our community. They are looking for shelf-stable items, such as peanut butter, canned meats, canned fruit, etc.. You are also able to donate money to the cause as well. For every dollar donated, we will be credited with 5 pounds of food. The community with the heaviest truck at the game will be the winner! Beat Lake!

Big picture

Fall MAP testing

Fall MAP testing will take place in the coming weeks at East Elementary School. MAP

testing is a way for us to collect information on your child's learning strengths and

opportunities. We use the results from these tests to plan for instruction that will help support

the needs of our students. Specific dates will be announced by your child's teacher(s). On

these days we ask that you make sure your child has a good night's rest, nutritious breakfast

and is in attendance all day.

Snack Donations

If you're able to donate bulk snacks for students at Avon East, we would really appreciate it. In the past, parents have given goldfish crackers, Cheeze-Its, granola bars, and other healthy snacks. We keep these extras in the office for students who may not have snack or forget it that day. Feel free to drop these off in our main office. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness.
