News from this week
Dear Parents,
It has been another wonderful week in 4th grade. The students are settling into our regular routines. We finished with all pretesting this week, so we are now on our regular schedule.
If your child is interested for running for student council the forms are due on Tuesday. No late applications can be accepted. Students will give speeches on August 22nd.
Math daily grades were sent home today. Most students did very well. If your child struggled please know that we will continue to work in small groups to master skills.
Reading logs will be sent home on Monday. Every student at GOES is expected to read a minimum of 20 minutes per night/5 nights per week. Reading logs are sent home every Monday and are due back the following Monday. If your child prefers, he/she can bring them in on Friday. This works better for some students, so they do not have to remember to get it signed and brought in on Monday.
Please refer to important dates for all assessments. I will send home study guides as we complete our units.
There have been some questions about the sight word homework. Sight word homework is sent home every Monday and is not due until Friday. We have approximately 3 daily grades on the sight words per month. Students are shown a word spelled 4 different ways. They are required to circle the word spelled correctly. I will never dictate the words and expect the students to write them from memory. I also have students copy down their homework for the week every Monday Morning. I may have them add/change an item from time to time. I know many students have after school activities, so I feel this gives them a chance to work ahead if they need to. I also post the week's homework on my website every Sunday, including links for any homework assignment for which I have an electronic copy.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Stoffle
