River Heights Elementary School

Learning from a Distance
Learning "at" River Heights certainly looks different as we cope together with the COVID-19 pandemic and the related safety measures! Yet, in some ways, it looks the same. Take a look at these engaged learners!
Assessment and Reporting
Teachers worked hard on the April 24th PD Day to identify and articulate a few of the most essential outcomes for language arts and for mathematics. These essential outcomes will be the focus of instruction and assessment for the duration of the school year. They will also appear on each teacher's customized final report card.
Please watch for an email from MHPSD for more information about our division's assessment and reporting plan.
Thank you, students!
Thank you, families!
Thank you, parents, for helping your children handle this new way of learning.
We are in unusual times. Thank you for all you are doing to ensure your children feel safe and secure during this global pandemic.
We know your plates are full. We know you have many concerns in addition to your children's schooling. Thank you for your commitment and patience. Thank you for partnering with us!
Thank you, RH staff!
This has been an unprecedented challenge as a team of educators! We are all so grateful to be part of a collaborative, supportive team. We have relied on each other to navigate these new uncharted waters.
RH is a place of creativity and courage and we have certainly tapped into both daily!
Our teachers and our support staff have attacked the task of learning new pieces of technology with impressive grit and stick-to-itiveness! High-fives all around!
The RH staff sure misses all of you!
Mental Health Week May 4 - 8
Thank you to our Success Coach team for their work in planning a week of activities to support and raise awareness for the importance of mental health.
We celebrated Hats On for Mental Health in line with the province on Fri. May 1st as a kick off to this week! (Though, many of us will enjoy donning a fancy hat on Wed. May 6th, too!)
Our grade 6 students were asked to put on their yellow hats and share positives about our current at-home learning situation.
Our students' responses highlight the importance of connection, getting outside, and sleep! These three things play big roles in our mental and physical health.
Listen to these smart kids! Connect virtually with friends and family, get lots of sunshine and fresh air, and keep regular bedtime and wake up routines.
