First we had to plot the points

Then find the slope of each side of the shape

From points A,D

are the sides parallel or perpendicular ?

They are parallel because C,D and A,B slope = -1 and A,D and B,C = 1

Distance between B,C

find the area of the shape

To find the area I multiplied the b*h

Find the midpoints of the each side of the rectangle

A,D midpoint

(2.5,1.5)

Distance between E,F

Conclusion

we found that our new shape was a rhombus , because the both pairs of opposite sides are parallel and that all 4 sides of the shape are congruent.

Perimeter of the new shape

The perimeter of the new shape is 10 , we found the perimeter by adding all the lengths of sides together
