Classified Staff of the Year
Maurice Zoss
Maurice is the downstairs custodian at MMS and not only does he clean up after the students in the classroom but also keeps the locker rooms clean. Even though he has a dirty job at the middle school you will rarely hear him complain about the mess that students create for him. At the beginning of the year he double checks that we have enough tables/desks/chairs and does not complain if we are looking for an extra. He will always leave extra cleaner in rags in our rooms when asked to and doesn't bat an eye if you ask for more.

Keith Christensen
Mr. Christensen, or “C-Dawg” as students fondly call him, helps to light a reading fire in the kids who visit the middle school library. He continuously works to bring in new titles, encouraging students to make title requests and then adding those titles into the mix. Student assistants help Mr. Christensen in the library, learning responsibility, social skills, and – of course – about books themselves. When I asked about increasing access to audiobooks, Mr. Christensen eagerly took on the challenge and located funds to purchase several Playaway Bookpacks, which include the actual book along with a portable audio version. These are used by both skilled and emerging readers in my classes, allowing the kids to experience books in another way. Mr. Christensen’s energy is contagious, and he makes the library a positive place to be
Keith has made being a student library worker something to pride yourself on. The group of workers is unique; there is no certain clique of kids. Mr. C "employs" athletes, student council members, SPED students, show choir students, students that struggle with behaviors, and many more. Many students have found a purpose in the MMS library thanks to Mr. C
