Navigation Notes

Welcome Back and Happy Spring Westside Families! I hope you and your children were able to enjoy the beautiful weather during our break while creating new memories. We are moving into the last quarter of this school year with only 11 weeks until summer. In that time, we still have many things to learn and accomplish here at school, so continue to support your child and their teachers to achieve each student's greatest potential!


*IMPORTANT* Pre-Registration packets for next school year will be coming home this week. There have been some changes to this process, so please review the packets carefully. Things to remember when completing these forms:


  • Even if your child will not attend Westside next year, please return the packet to school with that portion checked on the front cover letter.
  • Many forms are double-sided so be sure to check and answer all questions.
  • A cell phone contract will need to be completed for ALL students even if they do not currently have a cell phone.
  • *NEW* this year is a Student Residency Statement. All students need to have this form completed.
  • Families can keep the PINK copy of the Registration Addendum form (last page) once filled out. Tear off your copy and return the rest to school.
  • Deadline for pre-registration is April 23rd.



A treat will be given out to the first 3 classes who return ALL packets completed, so be sure to complete them and return to school at your earliest convenience. Kindergarten Registration will begin NEXT week, and we look forward to our littlest Explorers joining the Westside family! As we venture into April and May, students will begin taking state assessments and end-of-year diagnostics to show their growth and current levels of performance. I will be sending out frequent communications about these assessments, so please take a moment to review the information and share with your child as needed. i-Ready Growth Challenge!

i-Ready Growth Challenge!

This week we will begin the end-of-year i-Ready Diagnostic for ELA and Math. All students will take these online assessments between now and end of April. Encourage your child to do their very best as we use this data to support promotions and placements for next school year. PLUS, we will be giving away prizes for students in each grade level who demonstrate the MOST GROWTH from their previous iReady scores!

Family Empowerment Scholarship

The Florida Department of Education is offering low to middle-income families a scholarship for their children to attend a participating private school. You will be receiving an email on or around March 26th with more information or you can click on this link:

FSA/iReady Dates Have Been Scheduled

For your planning purposes, here are the FSA dates for all assessments 3rd-6th. Please note that eLearners are testing on different days than brick and mortar students and MUST take all assessments on campus. Also, some ESE students may test on additional dates if needed; however, those families will be notified. Third Grade eLearners must be on campus for their iReady Diagnostic #3 for it to count towards promotion.

If you have a student with a current IEP, you should have received an envelope this week with a survey. Please complete and return to school OR click the digital link here: https://www.esesurvey.com


Parents will be asked to select their child’s school district, school name, and enter their child’s grade and date of birth. All information given by the parent on the survey will be kept confidential and will not be linked to student or parent individually identifiable data. Parents with more than one child with an IEP should complete the survey for each child.
