Dear Families

It has been a fantastic start to the school year. The kids (and adults) are building their stamina for a five-day school week. Kids are forming great relationships with their teachers and doing great learning.

We are coming into some days off and special occasions. Please be sure to take note of the days and times below. Please be sure to note the link to the year at a glance.

HCR will have a Spirit Week the week of October 25-29. The dress-up days will be announced soon for M-Th. On Friday, students may either wear a costume or wear HCR Red.

On Tuesday the 26th the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will participate in the Pumpkin Run.

We will have our annual Fall/Halloween party and parade on Friday the 29th of October. We are currently waiting on the Chesterfield Police to give us the thumbs up, but our tentative plan is:

  • The parade will begin at 9:20 am.
  • It will follow the traditional route heading west on HCR Drive, left on Schoettler Valley, left on Grantley, left on Rockmoor Driver, and then right on HCR Dr to return to school.
  • Parents are invited to stand on the opposite sidewalk and wave and greet students.
  • No candy or objects may be given or thrown to students.
  • Kids will return to school, have a day of fun, and then end the half-day with a 12 - 1 pm Fall/ Halloween Party sponsored by our amazing parent community.

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, on October 29, Trunk or Treat - This is an optional community event. Parents will park on HCR Drive and walk through the HCR parking lot visiting Trunks for Treats! This entire event will be outside and spaced out.

Walkers and Bikers Safety

We are very excited so many of our students chose to walk and bike to school. Please be sure they do not arrive on campus before 8:50 am. Supervision begins at 8:50 am. If they accidentally arrive early they can lock up their bike and sit on the concrete benches around the big tree. Please remind them to stay in the concrete circle and definitely on the sidewalks.

As well, we have been talking to our bikers and scooter-riders about showing ROSE values on the sidewalk to and from school. We've been discussing how we need to show Respect by giving space to strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs. We also talked about how to Respectfully say, "on your left" while slowing down to pass people.

We have amazing students who live their ROSE values. Please help us reinforce them at home.
