MMS 2019-2020 School Year- Attendance Form
If your student will not be attending Murphy Middle School or McMillen High School next year, please take a moment to fill out the Next School Year Notification Form and return it to Linda Altier in the Counseling Department by May 1st. (This does not include IB or the Academies). The file is attached below.
If your plans change and your student will be attending Murphy or McMillen, this form will not affect their enrollment.

News from the Nurse
Thank you to those 6th grade parents that submitted their student’s immunization information. This will enable you to print your student’s schedule at registration time.
An immunization letter as well as a copy of each student’s immunization record was sent home in February if you student needs immunizations prior to 7th grade.
Please submit the paperwork to the nurse as soon as possible so that the school records may be updated.

Murphy's Got Talent
Have a talent you want to show off? Then come audition for Murphy’s Got Talent hosted by the MMS Theater Department! Due to the amount of students wanting to participate, there will be tryouts for the show. Solo piece tryouts are Tuesday, March 26th and Group piece try outs are Thursday, March 28th. To sign up, students will need to choose an audition time on the callboard located outside the theater room, sign up, and pick up a student-parent information contract. The Murphy’s Got Talent performance will be Friday, April 5th at 6pm in the cafeteria! Please have your student stop by during morning tutorials if they have any questions. –Mrs. Norris, MMS Theatre & Speech

Thanks to all the MMS students who participated in the recent recycling mascot art contest sponsored by the City of Murphy. Everyone did an outstanding job!

Congratulations Science Fair Competitors
It was an awesome day of science and engineering at the Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Fair Park Dallas on Saturday, February 23rd. We want to congratulation all the 7th and 8th grade students who won at the school fair and competed in the Regional Fair. We are so proud of all their hard work and their dedication.
Murphy had amazing results! Of the 20 students who competed, we had eleven who won a total of thirteen awards.
The following students received honorable mention in their categories:

· Melvin Manoj - ENGINEERING MECHANICS
· Hardik Singh - ROBOTICS AND INTELLIGENT MACHINES
The following students were Special Award Winners:
· Kristian Araya won 2nd place for a Space Exploration Scholarship AND The Mars Society -DFW Chapter, Honorable Mention.
· Aditya Mishra: Texas Instruments Best electronics or computing project, Junior Division
And our winners at the Beal Bank Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair, who will be competing at the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair in College Station March 29-30th are:
· Justin Simms won 1st in PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY with Effects of wheel position on friction produced
· Poojita Murali won 2nd in BIOCHEMISTRY with Produce Preservation Methods- A Quantitative Comparison
· Aditya Mishra won 2nd in ROBOTICS AND INTELLIGENT MACHINES with The Smart Trash Can!
· Vikrant Jeeva won 3rd in CHEMISTRY with Messy Marinades
· Lucas Sasaya won 3rd in ENERGY: PHYSICAL with Shower Energy
· Makenzie Lang won 3rd in MATERIALS SCIENCE with What a Mess!
· Kate Russ won 4th in BEHAVIORAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCES with Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder
