Sparks in 2016

As I think about the new year and what it brings, I immediately connect to the sparks of the background picture and our district theme of "I carry the torch!" As educators, we should continuously be looking for ways to "spark" the learning for all students. As 2016 arrives and hopes and resolutions are sparked to make a better future, I think we all know that sparks provide the opportunity for us to be tempered, refined, and tooled-- molded to a better self so we can better carry the torch.

In the work we do of educating young minds, it is critical that we, too, stay sparked. We must be willing to be refined as we grow as learners and leaders. Whether your time is spent stretching your mind to learn a new app to add to your repertoire of resources or reading a new novel or educational journal to increase your understanding of how the mind works and how we must work to connect that mind through relevance, application, and creativity, the need to grow, learn, experiment, explore, fail, and do it all again in the name of learning is part of our calling to be the best teachers and leaders possible.

May you spark up the learning in your school in 2016 with blinding success!
