Our Vision and Mission

Vision:

To prepare students to become responsible 21st Century citizens and leaders in a global society.

Mission:

Killian Elementary, with the support of its parents and community, dedicates itself to providing an innovative curriculum in a safe, nurturing environment that will prepare students to be productive citizens in a global society.

Daily Schedules and Recess

Teachers,

Please make sure you are sticking to your daily schedule as close as possible. Recess time should not be more than 20 minutes. If classes stagger outside, they will need to stagger back in to the building. Every minute of the day is valuable, so please, let's become more mindful of how we use those minutes. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

Sub Plans

Teachers, if you will be out, please make sure you have developed and shared your sub plans for the day. Please share them with your grade level administrator as well as your team leader. If you are the team leader, please share your plans with another team member. When you are out, it is your responsibility to develop lesson plans for your students. Please ensure you meet your professional obligation to your students by making sure sub plans are available. Also, emergency plans should always be accessible in your room in the event you are unable to send sufficient plans for the day. As you prepare work, ensure that you are setting your students up for success. This may require leaving differentiated assignments. It might help with some of the off-task behaviors. All emergency plans should be clearly labeled and placed in a visible location.

Best Behavior Assemblies

Ms. Gore and Mrs. Murray will be hosting behavior (procedure and expectation) assemblies on Monday, March, 7th during related arts. We will share the power points with all faculty and staff to ensure that we are all on the same page regarding procedures, expectations, and leading behaviors 100% of the time.

Teacher of the Week!

Congratulations to Mrs. Shayla Stephens who was recognized as this week's Teacher of the Week. Way to go Mrs. Stephens. Thank you for all you do!

Leadership Day

It is quickly approaching and we are getting excited. On Friday, April 29th, we will be showcasing the LEADING LIONS. Please continue to ensure that students are updating their Leadership binders. Rotate your classroom ambassadors. Review and maybe even make adjustments to your mission statements. If new students have come, please make sure they have binders, leadership roles and an understanding and contribution to your classroom mission statement.

Retention

All names should have been submitted now to your grade level administrator.

Read Across America Celebration

We would like to send a special thanks to Mrs. King, Mrs. Raley, and Mrs. George for facilitating our Read Across America day! The students were engaged and engrossed in reading the entire time. There were no behavior incidences, even with several classes in the media center at one time. We are sure the teachers appreciated the "mini-break" today and we are so thankful for your vision of having students at Killian Elementary School actively engaged in reading. It was a great use of time and we look forward to the next event soon!
