We also had a fun trivia question for each chapter of the book and each day 12 lucky students who had the correct answer got to come to the library to receive a cute vinyl hamster sticker as a prize! Students also got to do a directed drawing of Humphrey with their “crews” last week. We had so much fun with this book club and can’t wait to see what the book will be for our School Wide Book Club next year! IN-HOUSE SKATING PROGRAM DURING P.E.
ALL parents MUST sign and return bottom part of Permission Slip by Friday, March 10th.
Dear Families,
The month of February is American Heart Awareness Month because heart disease is the leading cause of death among men and women in the United States. Heart disease can often be prevented by eating right and exercising. In an effort to fight against heart disease and promote healthy living Meadowlark will be starting up the 2023 Milers Running Club. It is important for kids to try and get 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity(MVPA) a day. Reaching that 60 minutes a day is getting increasingly harder due to the increase of time spent in front of a screen!
The mission of the Meadowlark Milers Running Club is not only to provide students with an opportunity to get their 60 minutes of MVPA, it also helps students to be ready for learning in the classroom, build self-esteem, and feel a sense of connection within our school. Students will be challenged to walk/run as many miles as they can during the season. They will be setting goals and the miles that will count towards this goal are the miles that they earn during Milers Club, PE, recess, Meadowlark Giving Run, Local Runs, Spring Break Virtual 5K, and the end of the year Family Fun Run. Students will run/walk outside when the weather permits, and if the weather is bad we will run/walk inside the school. Students will earn mileage tokens when they reach their short-term goals, and if they reach their final goal for the season they will receive a medal at the end of the year!
Practices will be held before school starting at 8:00 until school starts on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students will meet in the gym. Drop off is on the East side where the Car Loop is. Doors open at 7:50 am. Milers Club will begin on Thursday, February 23rd and the last day will be a Family Fun Run around the first week in May (TBD).
It is free to join Milers Club, however, we will be selling Milers t-shirts for $15 each if a you would like to purchase one for your student or if other family members would like to purchase one. (Please make checks payable to Alicia Moss or Venmo @mossalicia). These shirts will be the same as last year, so if you already have one you don’t need to order one unless you need a new size. If you are interested in signing up please complete the form below for each student. If you have any questions please email Mrs. Crusinberry at crusinbt@usd385.org. We are looking forward to a fun season!!!
