Donate a Book
DAB IS COMING!
We are pleased to announce that a Donate A Book Program is coming to the Florence Roche Library. At Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 20, you are invited to visit the Florence Roche Library and choose a new book from a large assortment to donate to the library collection.
We ask that you pay for the book that night by check and give us information for a bookplate, which will be permanently attached to the book. You may use your name or your child’s name as the donor. You may also donate a book in memory or in honor of a special person. In a few weeks after the new books are covered and entered in the computer, your child will have the first opportunity to sign out the book at school. Funds will be used to buy more library books and materials. Thanks in advance to those who choose to donate a book!
Groton Neighborhood Food Project
Dear Florence Roche Parents,
There is an exciting project going on in Groton and Florence Roche has just become part of it! The Groton Neighborhood Food Project helps to supply Loaves & Fishes food pantry (https://loavesfishespantry.org) with nutritious food for adults and children in Groton and the surrounding area. The project serves over 800 local families and it works like this:
A Groton neighborhood coordinator will supply each classroom at Florence Roche with a reusable tote bag
Over a two-month period, the children will have the opportunity to fill the bag
The coordinator picks up the bag on scheduled dates, leaves an empty bag for the next pick up (two months from then), and delivers the filled bags to Loaves & Fishes.
The children at Florence Roche could fill 24 bags every two months if each child in a classroom brought in just ONE non-perishable item! Let’s encourage them to participate and to think of all the families that are being helped.
The next food collection day for the school will be Friday, October 12th and we want to invite your child to be a critical part of this effort by becoming a food donor.
We will also have a table set up at the Open House on September 20th so please stop by and find out more or visit https://grotonfoodproject.com.
Thank you in advance for encouraging your children to be part of this project!
