100th Day of School

Big picture

Can you believe it? January 31st is our 100th day of school. And, we are so very excited to celebrate with you and your students!

On Thursday, January 30 from 5:30-7 pm, we will host a Math night, all about 100s! We invite you to spend the night with your kiddos, learning all about Math. At each station, you'll learn how to play a fun game, that you can take home and continue to build a love for Math with your child! So, bring the whole family; it will be a great night of Math games!

In addition, in classrooms on Friday, January 31, students will celebrate the day in a variety of ways. Look out for more information in the weekly grade level newsletter!

Community Committee Meeting: January

Big picture

Join us on Tuesday, January 14 from 5:30-6:30 pm for the next Community Committee meeting! We will spend time discussing the aesthetics of the new facility, including the possibility of a mural, things to include in the Parent Corner (we need a better name for that), etc! Looking forward to seeing you there!

Lunch time has proven to be one of the busiest times of the day. For 1.5 hours (almost) back-to-back, each grade level is coming in, super hungry, and excited to talk, talk, talk with their peers! It's a wonderful time for students, but, because of our small staff, it can be a difficult time for the adults.

Lunch is a mandatory off time for teachers; it's their time to eat a meal, take care of personal business, etc. We don't ever want to infringe on that we are looking for parents, who could volunteer their time, once a week, to support in the cafeteria. You would spend your time supporting students with opening their milks, cleaning off the tables when they are done eating, and possibly supporting with serving food.

If you are interested in supporting between 11-12:30 (for part or all of the time; on certain or all of the days), please reach out to Ashley Williamson (via email:

Gymnastics + Taekwondo

Two updates for our paid-by-parent after school activities!

Gymnastics will begin again this Wednesday, January 8. This will be the first week of the 8-week class. If you are interested in your child continuing in gymnastics, please be sure to make payment, directly to Colorado Gymnastics Institute, by Wednesday. However, if you don't plan to have your child continue, please email Ashley Williamson (

The owner of Taekwondo requires 10 students to participate, in order to take a class. We started out with 10 kids but in the end, only had 3 kiddos participating each week. This is a really great opportunity for our kiddos to learn discipline, courage to take risks, and confidence. We really want to keep this as an option for our students but need a few more families to sign up. This program costs $95/month + a one-time $35 uniform fee, for 3 classes per week (M, W, F)! If you are interested in having your student participate, please reach out to Ashley Williamson (via email: Unfortunately, we will not be able to continue offering this option, until we have the 10 students!

Looking for an easy way to donate to the school? Any time you shop on Amazon, ACS can get a portion of the funds, which allows us to make purchases that will support students even more!

Go to, login as you normally would, and type in our school name (Aurora Community School); we will show up as a Charter School in Denver Metro, CO.

Tardy or Absent?

We know that things come up...and your student will eventually be tardy or even absent! It's important that you notify the school, as soon as possible, so we can update our attendance system.

In case of a tardy, please TEXT 720-621-4514 with the student's name, grade level, and the reason for the tardy. No one will respond to this message, but please know it was received.

In case of an absence, please EMAIL; please share the student's name, grade level, date of the absence, and reason for the absence.
