What We Worked On
Read Aloud- We began a farm unit this week. We read the stories "City Mouse, Country Mouse," "Giggle Giggle Quack," and "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly." We've been learning farm vocabulary and singing the songs "Old MacDonald Had A Farm."
Skills- We reviewed the letter "U" and counting 1-12. We reviewed the color white and the shape of a diamond.
What Can I Do?
Sometimes the best way to teach new words to your child is to keep talking, even when it's not about anything. When we are walking with your child, we're talking about what we see on the walls or in the halls. When we are sitting with your child for breakfast or lunch, we're describing the food and the different colors and textures we see. When they are playing, we're asking questions about what's going to happen next or why the dinosaur is roaring. We don't always expect any answer, but your child is listening to us and picking up on the words. Conversations are sometimes the best way to learn new things.
