Superintendent updates for the School Board
Just so you know:
WBWF Report -
The link provided will take you to the WBWF presentation. Obviously, I will present it during the Board meeting. I will cover the highlights of the plan and you can use the presentation for more detailed information.

Committee Updates:
B&G Committee:
We met on 12/14/22 and reviewed LTFM plans and discussed the ongoing issues we have with roofs leaking, paint booth ventilation, and equipment needs.
Last year the Board approved the purchase of a new mower/snow blower. The equipment was sold before we had a chance to seal the deal and inventory has been limited ever since. We are hearing that we can be placed on a waiting list now again and so Scott Schuller is looking into this. The Ellendale rig is getting near the end of its life, so a purchase will need to be made sometime soon, especially knowing that the delivery date of the equipment is still a mystery.
Stay tuned for more updates.
Teacher Negotiations:
Ed MN-NRHEG has filed the required paperwork to enter into negotiations after the first of the year. Their current contract expires on June 31st, 2022. Rarely does a contract get settled prior to July 1st but it will remain our goal to do so.
The state surplus and announcement of state aid typically do not happen until spring, so that will always be a factor in the financial part of the contract settlement. Language changes do not appear to be major. I anticipate meeting with the union in February or March to get the ball rolling and tackle as many of the language changes as possible knowing that we will need to finalize the financial pieces later on.
Organizational meeting:
Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023 - remember this is a change from the 2nd due to Federal Holiday requirements.
Be thinking of which committees you would like to serve on. New Board members please contact me or a fellow board member if you have committee selection questions or need additional information.

The December meeting is looking like it will be a short meeting with just a couple of action items being needed.
The consent agenda has an impressive list of donations to the Cheer Team for their trip to the National Competition. Also noteworthy is the resignation of one of our secondary SpEd teachers. This was not a surprise resignation, it had been anticipated that it would come at some point. A mid-year resignation is not ideal, our SpEd Director is comfortable with other SpEd teachers absorbing her caseload. Confidentially - we will consider the reduction remaining in place for the 2023-2024 school year.
Enrollment numbers are shown below.
I will present the 2021-2022 WBWF Goal Data. No action is required of the Board. We are simply required to present the data to the public outside of a School Board meeting. Teri has submitted the plan to MDE as required.
We will need to certify the 2022 Payable 2023 Levy. Presentation by Karla. Approve as presented.
After meeting with representatives from our three bargaining units, it is agreed upon that March 6th would be the best day to add as a student contact day due to January 2nd moving to a No School Day. Recommend you approve these calendar changes.
Information was sent to families about January 2nd being a No Schoo Day. (see below)
This will be the last meeting for our outgoing Board Members.
