Denton, TX
Music for All, Bands of America, and University of North Texas Wind Studies are thrilled to announce BOA Blast! at UNT, a one-day summer camp for students held in collaboration with University of North Texas Wind Studies. BOA Blast! at UNT will focus on increasing achievement in the marching arts for high school students, including winds, color guard, and drum majors. Leadership is a focus of the day for all. Nashville, TN - Pearl Corporation announces the opening of its third annual college scholarship, "Musicians Making A Difference", which will award two $5,000 scholarships totaling $10,000 to high school musicians who have demonstrated the ability to impact change in themselves, their community, and those around them.
"I am beyond grateful to have been selected a recipient of the 2022 Musicians Making a Difference Scholarship. The scholarship has been invaluable in paying for my college and conservatory education and has allowed me to focus on becoming a better musician and person. Thank you so much to Pearl Drums for supporting musicians who are passionate about giving back to their community!" said Amy Hwang, 2022 Scholarship recipient.
A diverse panel of Pearl staff and artists will select recipients based on a student's contributions to their community and not their playing or vocal ability. The scholarship's objective is to reward and inspire the youth who will shape tomorrow.
This year's application deadline is April 15, 2023.

The Austin Brass Collective is hosting our first solo competition for High School and Middle School brass players! All brass players in grades 7-12 are invited to submit unaccompanied recordings of solo repertoire to compete for cash prizes and an opportunity to perform their solo with the ABC!
Full rules and procedures can be found on our website (austinbrasscollective.com), but here's a quick rundown you could share with your students:
Any accompanied solo under 10 minutes is allowed, but your submission tape does not need piano accompaniment! Just the solo part is fine!
There will be two divisions: High school and Middle school, each with a set of prizes.
The deadline to submit your recording and a competition fee of $25 is 11:59pm on January 29th
The winner of the high school division will perform their solo with the ABC on March 5th, and one of our arrangers will write a brand new arrangement of your solo for brass ensemble!
The University of North Texas Wind Symphony will be performing their TMEA send off concert on Tuesday, February 7th at the Winspear Performance Hall on the UNT campus. The concert starts at 7:30pm and Grapevine's very own Abby Isley is the only freshman in the ensemble!
