April 5th & April 8th

Dear Families,

It has been a year since our lives changed dramatically and unexpectedly due to COVID. At long last we are preparing to welcome some students back to the building. Please note the change in date for students in grades 3-5 to start in person learning. In response to the Governor's order students in Grades 3-5 will now start in person on April 8th.

For this first phase school will look differently. Students will social distance, wear masks and routinely sanitize their hands. We are going to ask families to socially distance while picking up or dropping off students. We are not ready to welcome back volunteers and visitors yet. If you need help call or email the office. We will continue to have pick up of supplies for families staying in CDL. If your child is returning in person please read this newsletter carefully for details about the Return to School plan. I am excited to welcome students back to the building again!

All students will stay at home and have asyrchonrous learning. Classroom teachers will have a morning meeting each Wednesday for the whole class. This will be a great way for students to be together again!


The school will be purchasing school supplies needed for the classroom. We ask that you supply a water bottle for your student labeled with their first and last name. As part of the Safe Schools procedures all water fountains will be closed. However students can fill their water bottles up at the classroom sink. We also ask that you send a bottle of hand sanitizer. This will allow students to have their own bottle. Depending on the grade, teachers will inform you if they want your child to bring their school device from home to school each day.

Elementary Hybrid English


Students and staff will need to wear a mask on school property during school hours. Please practice with your student before they return. Please send students to school with a clean comfortable mask each day. If your child forgets their mask or it becomes dirty we will have extras.

Dress for Success!

Students will be entering the back doors of their classrooms. For some students this will be a walk around the building. Please make sure they are ready for rainy weather. A coat with a hood or baseball cap will keep them dry on the rainy Spring days!

Nutrition Services

Dear BSD Families,

The start of In-Person Hybrid Instruction is right around the corner, and our Nutrition Services department has been hard at work developing a plan for how to continue to provide free meals for all children during both Hybrid and CDL. The USDA has provided waivers for the rest of the school year that allow any child (ages 1-18) to access free meals.

Starting April 5, meal service via bus routes will be discontinued.

If you attend Hybrid Elementary School:

● Hybrid students can receive a free daily meal bag to take home.

● Two days of meals will be sent home on Tuesday.

● No registration is required.

If you attend Hybrid Middle School:

● Hybrid students can eat lunch for free at school on the days that they attend in-person instruction.

● Free meal bags with breakfasts, lunches, and supper snacks will be available for students to take home at the end of their in-person school day to cover days they attend school from home and/or asynchronously.

● No registration is required.

If you attend Hybrid High School:

● Students will be able to eat breakfast and lunch for free at school on the days they attend in-person instruction.

● Free meal bags with breakfast, lunch, and supper snacks will be available for students to take home at the end of their in-person school day to cover days they attend school from home and/or asynchronously.

● No registration is required.

If you attend CDL or are a non-enrolled community child:

● All CDL students and children not enrolled in the Beaverton School District can access a free 5-Day Meal Bag every Wednesday from 11am-12pm.

● Meal bags include 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 5 supper snacks. Only children aged 4 and older are eligible for supper snacks.

Families can select a school to pick up these meals in the Meal Bag Registration Form.

● Registration is strongly encouraged.

● Children do not need to be present to pick-up meal bags.

● Masks are required to be worn by anyone picking up meal bags.

Too sick for school criteria

If your child is not feeling well at school they will be taken to the Eagles nest, formerly known as the health room. The Eagle's nest will serve as an isolation room enabling a student to be assessed for symptoms. If the student has a fever 100.4, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, or new loss of taste or smell, we will call you and ask for you to pick them up from school. When you pick them up you will receive a packet which will explain the criteria for returning to school. If your child has the following symptoms; headache, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, sore throat, muscle/body aches, or congestion/runny rose, we will call and ask for you to pick them up. Your child will be able to return to school when they are symptom free for 24 hours. Students will not be able to ride the bus home if they are experiencing symptoms. Please check ParentVue and make sure we have current phone numbers for you. These new guidelines will be strictly followed to help prevent the spread of COVID.
