Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Choir Students Win Awards!
Eleven students from the HTMS Women’s Choir and Honors Choir participated in Solo & Ensemble Performance Assessment. All students sang in the ensemble, and three students—Devon Amick (8th grade), Kelsey Dudley (7th grade), and Katie Harris (7th grade)—also performed as soloists.
All three soloists and the ensemble earned superior ratings. They were praised for their tone quality, clarity, accuracy, discipline, and blend. Most of their practice and rehearsal time was self-directed. Every other participating school was a high school. We are very proud of these kids and wanted to share their accomplishments.
The Choir Director is Ben Cook.
Great Job!

Hot Topics Conference
The Central Alabama Transition Team (CATT), Trussville City Schools, and Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services hosted our annual Transition Hot Topics Conference on February 21st, at the Trussville Civic Center, Trussville, AL. The free conference was for transition stakeholders, ie; parents, teachers, community service providers, counselors, etc.
The conference is similar to “Speed Dating” conference style and is designed to disseminate as much updated transition information to the attending stakeholders as possible in a one day workshop approach. Attendees heard from local speakers, addressing the “Hot Topics” in transition, to be better equipped to facilitate successful transitions to post-secondary goals for youth with disabilities.

4th Grade World Music Drumming – Paine Elementary School
Mrs. Blackmon’s 4th grade class had a special performance for Mrs. O’Dell’s kindergarten students. The 4th graders played all the songs they learned during their world music drumming unit in music class.
Afterwards, the kindergarteners had the opportunity to learn from the 4th graders and play the drums as well! These 4th graders are such awesome role models for the younger students here at Paine.

2020 Census - The importance of counting children
Shape our children's future. Start with the 2020 Census.
Responding to the 2020 Census is an easy, safe, and important way to help provide resources for children and their communities for the next 10 years. Everyone living in the US is asked to complete a sample questionnaire every ten years that asks for basic information about the people who live or sleep in their home. Children under the age of five, however, are often missed.
Responding to the census is easier than ever. You can complete the census questionnaire online, by phone or by mail.
Start shaping their future by going to 2020census.gov
