Beginning on December 8, 2015 (The Feast of the Immaculate Conception) and continuing until November 20, 2016 (Feast of Christ the King) the Jubilee of Mercy will be a special, holy year focusing on God's forgiveness and mercy.
The Archdiocese of San Francisco will observe monthly themes based upon the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy and themes of the Year of Mercy. The Corporal Works of Mercy are kind acts by which we help our neighbors with their material and physical needs. The Spiritual Works of Mercy are acts of compassion by which we help our neighbors with their emotional and spiritual needs. For a complete list of Monthly Mercy Themes, please click here.

ACRE ASSESSMENT 2013 EDITION
Please be reminded that the ACRE Assessment 2013 Edition for religious education assessment is to be administered to grades five and eight during the month of February 2016. Please click here to view the newly created ACRE page on the DCS password protected website.
LOS ANGELES RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONFERENCE: CRTIS REGISTRATION
Please remember that all teachers and administrators who choose to attend the LA Religious Education Conference on February 26, 27 & 28, may also receive Recertification Credit for workshops taken during the conference. Upon completion of the conference in February, participants should submit their conference registration/workshops attended information to the school’s Religion Coordinator/CRTIS Manager. The Religion Coordinator may review the workshop description and determine what Recertification Topic would have been covered. Religion Coordinators/CRTIS Managers should then register all teacher or administrator participants at www.crtis.org.

GUIDED TOURS OF THE OLD MISSION DOLORES
Guided Tours of the Old Mission Dolores on Saturdays in February and March at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Join us as we explore Mission Dolores’ history on a guided tour of the Old Mission, Museum, Cemetery and the Basilica Church. A guided tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. A portion of the tour is out-of-doors, so dress appropriately. Upon your arrival, check in our gift shop and the staff will direct you where to begin your tour. Tours begin promptly at the hour stated. We hope that our Saturday guided tours will aid those who cannot come on a group tour during the week. APRIL 2016 RECERTIFICATION WORKSHOPS
Planning for the Spring Recertification workshops is well underway! As a reminder here are the dates and locations for the workshops.
April 7, 2016, Recertification Workshop, 3:30-5:00 pm, hosted at St. Cecilia
April 13, 2016, Recertification Workshop, 3:30-5:00 pm, hosted at St. Gregory School
April 20, 2016, Recertification Workshop, 3:30-5:00 pm, hosted at St. Hilary School
Recertification Topic Credit Available: Church, Sacraments, Scripture or Elective
Registration is available at www.crtis.org. Workshop cost is $15.00 per person. Please note that a minimum of 15 participants must be registered in order for a workshop to take place.

Summer Basic Certification Classes

Our next Basic Certification Classes will take place on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Our Lady of Mercy Church Hall. The Basic topics being offered are:
Christian Prayer (Prayer & Spirituality) - 8:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Liturgical Life (Sacraments) - 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Morning hospitality and lunch will be provided. Registration fee is $45.00 per person per Basic Topic Session. Registration is available at www.crtis.org
TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS
The Department of Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of San Francisco will hold job fairs for teachers seeking elementary school positions for the 2016-17 school year in grades pre-school through 8. RENAISSANCE LEARNING STAR IMPLEMENTATION
We have created a document that gives you information on the proposed Renaissance STAR testing rollout. The steering committee met this week and discussed many of the information points presented here. Please click here to view the document:
The next meeting of the steering committee is April 5, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at St Brendan’s. You are all invited, and we will send out a sign up closer to the meeting date.

TUITION CONTRACTS AND TUITION RATES
Please send Rodney Yee a blank copy of the tuition contract that you have prepared for your parents to sign for school year 2016-17.
At this time we are also asking for your tuition rates. Simply send (scan, fax, mail) the tuition and fee sheet that you provide to your parents.

PARENT EDUCATION NETWORK (PEN) WORKSHOP
On Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. PEN will be holding a workshop for will be holding a professional development workshop entitled STRESS: The Breakfast of Champions: How to Put Kids with LD & ADHD on the Cusp of Competence and on the Path to Success at Mercy High School in San Francisco. Please note that effective January 1, 2016, schools can no longer accept "personal belief exemptions" for students whose immunizations are not up-to-date. Only medical exemptions are acceptable. Two links have been added to the Students:Health section of the password protected DCS website the provide additional information on SB 277. In addition, the website http://www.shotsforschool.org, has lots of easy to understand information about SB 277 and vaccines in general.

WCEA CATHOLIC IDENTITY ONGOING REVIEW
As a reminder each elementary school should begin the 2015-2016 process for the annual WCEA Catholic Identity Ongoing Review.

WCEA YEARLY PROGRESS REPORT
The WCEA Yearly Progress Report is due to Pam on June 30, 2016. All WCEA/WASC accredited elementary school in the Archdiocese of San Francisco are required to submit an annual Progress Report regardless of accreditation status. Only those school being visited by WCEA during the 15/16 or 16/17 school year do not need to complete this report.
