Getting Started

What can you do to prepare for college?

Maintain good attendance

-Do not get to your senior year with excessive absences! These will need to made up and will impede on your ability to keep up with classes and grades


Earn the best grades you can

-Failing grades will affect your overall GPA when you get to your senior year! Work hard in class!


Study for your SAT or ACT

Start studying now on Khan Academy! It has free practice materials for SAT! ACT Academy has free practice materials for the ACT!


Take the Schoolinks assessments

Log into your Schoolinks profile and take the assessments! Need to review your results? See your counselor or college bound advisor!


Start your college search

Log into your Schoolinks account and click on colleges and start researching today! Check out the information on admissions requirements. programs and majors!


Get Involved

Join a club, organization, play sports and volunteer! All these extracurricular activities will benefit you when you apply to college as well as help you get experience in leadership and make friends!


Create a resume

A resume is useful when applying to colleges, scholarships and jobs! This gives people a glimpse of your education, extracurricular involvement, skills and experience!


Attend College Rep Visits

Brack hosts many visits from admissions representatives from many colleges and universities around the nation! This is a great way to find out interesting information about admissions requirements, scholarships, programs & majors!!


Meet with your Counselor or CBA

It is important to stay on top of your graduation requirements! Be sure to meet with your counselor at least once per semester to ensure you are on track with credits and attendance. You can also reach out to your College Bound Advisor to get information on college, career and military processes.

Its mission is to foster a college-going culture by providing college awareness & academic readiness skills to eligible 9th-12th grade students. The program’s goals are two-fold:


  • to increase the number of high school students enrolling in college
  • to encourage and support admissible students to apply and matriculate to UT Austin
