Dear Guest Families,
Thank you for purchasing raffle tickets for our annual fundraiser titled; Growing Wildcat Champs Raffle Color Splash & Dash. A separate newsletter was sent out with many details. If you missed it, CLICK HERE.
I have included information regarding Walled Lake Central's Homecoming ideas that Guest Elementary will be involved in Oct 4th-7th. Details listed below.
Please register for REMIND. The directions are at the bottom of the newsletter. It is another tool we use to communicate.

7th - Homecoming parade - first 20 students to RSVP will have an opportunity to march in the WLC Homecoming parade. Call the main office to leave your student's name. If this changes, and more students can attend, I will alert our families right away.

Homecoming parade - due to the number of students from the elementary schools invited, at this time WLC is asking to limit 20 students per school to participate in the parade. If this changes, I will get information to you ASAP. As of right now, if you are interested in having your student(s) march in the parade, call our main office to RSVP. We will take all names until Wednesday the 5th, and then do a lottery. All families will be notified.
I am waiting on all PARADE details. We were we would meet at 5:00 & the parade begins at 5:30.

TOYS, SPORTS EQUIPMENT & CARDS AT SCHOOL
Please ensure your student does not bring any of their personal toys, stuffed animals, Poke'mon cards, sports equipment, etc. to school unless asked by their teacher, or if a school-wide event is planned. We have had some tears because toys get lost and/or broken. Poke'mon cards are a distraction, and students are tempted to trade. This, too, causes our students to become upset. Thank you in advance for your support.

It has been wonderful getting to know our new families and reconnecting with others. We appreciate you providing your ID when picking up your child. Thank you for not entering, and waiting in, the building during arrival & dismissal. Our fifth grade safeties are doing an amazing job at their safety posts making sure everyone is being safe.
Here are a few ways to support the office:
CHANGES IN YOUR STUDENT(S) SCHEDULE
If there is any change in your student(s) arrival and/or dismissal schedule, please send a note to your student's teacher and the main office. If you use Prime Time, please call and leave a message. Emailing your student's teacher may not be the best way to communicate changes in your schedule, especially if it is on short notice. Last minute changes are acceptable, however, we need you to call the office no later than 3:00 pm. If there is an emergency, or a very late change, you can still call the office after 3:00 pm however, we ask that this does not happen often due to the nature of the office being very busy at that time. We do not want to miss your call.
If you notice a missed call from the school, please listen to the message. Sometimes calls are made from classrooms and the office does not have any knowledge of this call. Our office staff will leave a detailed message and indicate whether or not we would like you to call back.
BE ON TIME
When students are tardy, they miss out on the morning greeting and they begin their day in a rush. We are aware that situations do occasionally occur that cause families to be delayed.
If this is an ongoing struggle in your home, WE can help. If you would like us to talk with your child about the importance of getting to school on time, we would be happy to do so. The second bell rings at 8:55. Students should already be in the building at this time.
DROPPING OFF FORGOTTEN ITEMS
There are times when we all forget things. Please be the judge of whether or not you should bring the item(s) to school, or let your student have a natural consequence. Once again, WE can help if you are noticing a pattern of forgotten items.
If you do drop something off, a staff member will deliver it to the classroom. In an effort to limit classroom interruptions, we will only call students down to the office in emergency situations.

SCHOOL BELL TIMES - ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL - CHANGES IN SCHEDULE
Below, you will find information regarding Guest Elementary procedures with regards to arrival, dismissal, or a change in schedule. Any updates and/or additional information will be shared at a later date.
8:50 am is the first arrival bell. Students will be let into the building at this time. Due to safety & security expectations, all students will remain outside until the first bell rings. Students getting breakfast will enter approximately two minutes earlier. Thank you for planning accordingly.
8:55 am is the second arrival bell. This indicates school is now in session. Students arriving after this time are considered Tardy for school and marked accordingly on their attendance record.
3:58 pm is the first dismissal bell. We will begin our dismissal process a couple minutes earlier. We are asking that families of those students being picked up, or walking home with their student(s) remain outside. When we have too many parents standing in the hallways while we are dismissing, it becomes overcrowded. Your child will meet you at the designated area outside. If you are volunteering first thing in the morning and/or until the very end of the day, please report to the office to receive your volunteer/visitors badge. This will help us know that you are authorized to be helping. As a volunteer at the end of the day, if you are taking your child home with you, be sure the office and your student’(s’) teachers are aware. Sign each student out at the office and wait by the glass case just beyond the office door. You can also have your child meet you at the designated area outside if you prefer.
4:05 pm is the final dismissal bell. Students leaving before this time are considered Early Dismissal and are also marked accordingly on their attendance record.
Please note that 12:09 pm is the time for 1/2-day dismissal. We will begin the dismissal process at approximately 12:05 pm. Last school year the time was 12:16 pm.

Walled Lake Consolidated Schools is committed to creating a healthy school environment that enhances the development of lifelong wellness practices to promote healthy eating and physical activities that support student achievement.
FREE & REDUCED LUNCH
Children need healthy meals to learn. Walled Lake Consolidated Schools offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast costs $1.25 at the elementary and $1.50 at the middle and high school; lunch costs $2.50 at the elementary and starts at $2.75 at the middle and high school. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals. Reduced price is $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch. This packet includes an application for free or reduced price meal benefits, and a set of detailed instructions. Below are some common questions and answers to help you with the application process.
