Principal's Message
It has been a fabulous first quarter of school at Green Tree Elementary. Students and staff have had the opportunity to participate in many fun activities before, during and after school this year. We want to thank our wonderful PTO board members and parents for providing GTE with so much support as we implement the House System at GTE.
We also want to thank our families for their generous donations sent in to support the people that have been affected by Hurricane Dorian. Each House (Hawthorn, Catalpa, Magnolia, Sequoias, Tupelo, and Wisteria. brought in donations. Sequoia brought in the most - $385.49. As a school, we were able to raise over $1,725. The money has been donated to the American Red Cross to help support Hurricane Dorian victims.
We will continue to focus on excellence in academics and character at GTE while making school fun and exciting for students this year. Please remember Mrs. Bagin and I are always available to support you and your child. We want to continue to partner with you to ensure that your child is successful and feels supported. Contact us at any time with questions and input you may have for us.

Monthly Essentials Focus---November
- Be a good listener
- Nod your head and react appropriately with comments being made
- Look at the person talking
- Add short comments that fit, such as "That is so interesting!" or "Wow."
Monthly Essentials Focus---December
At all times keep your hands, feet and other objects to yourself.
When you transition from one subject to the other, the change will be swift, quiet, and orderly. We should be consistently able to turn from one book to another, complete with all homework and necessary materials, as quickly as possible. The opportune amount of time to spend in transition should be less than ten seconds, and we will work towards a goal of seven seconds.
The more time spent transitioning the more time kids have to talk, move around, etc.
When in a line, walk single file, two to three feet behind the person in front of you with your arms at your sides. Face forward at all times. There is absolutely o talking.
Make your mind and body safe
Keep others around you safe

PTO SPOTLIGHT
My name is Kim Porter and I am the PTO Treasurer. Our twin daughters, Abigail and Sophie, are in 5th grade. We have been at Green Tree for the past five years, served on the PTO the past four, and have loved the school and the staff so much. I didn't know a whole lot of people when we moved out here, but I have made so many friendships and relationships through PTO. Also, my girls have helped volunteer through PTO and Girl Scouts lending a hand with projects, parties, and everything in between at the school. I believe it has really given them pride for their school. My nephews also attend Green Tree so it is always nice to have all the cousins here together. We love living in Lake Saint Louis and being part of Green Tree.

Some Facts About Head Lice
Where children are present and playing, there is always the possibility of the presence of pediculus humanus capitis (head lice), which means there is a potential for there to be lice at school.
The WSD has aligned nurse practices with both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of School Nurses and we ask that parents keep the following information in mind:
- Lice are not a disease.
- Lice do not reflect unsanitary homes or students.
- Lice are absolutely an inconvenience.
- By detecting lice early, both parents and nurses can get ahead in the process.
Listed below are links to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of School Nurses. There is also a video on what to look for when assessing if your child has head lice.

Just a reminder regarding medication...
Medication - All medications, over-the-counter and prescription, must have a physician order form completed and signed by physician and parent. All medications must be delivered and picked up by an adult.
Please encourage your children to eat a healthy breakfast, bring a water bottle and snack to school and eat a good lunch.
Thank you!
Nurse Marcia
