Ms. Struble Reaps Rewards From Teaching Scholarship
MacKinnon Teacher visits Colonial Williamsburg on a teacher’s scholarship though the Teacher Institute Colonial Williamsburg
How do we define our identity as Americans? How do diverse cultures come together to form the basis of American identity? MacKinnon Middle School teacher, Ms. Tina Struble found out through an intensive 6-day journey through Colonial Williamsburg over the summer. Visits to Jamestown Island, Yorktown Battlefield and a step back in time through the Capitol building where the seeds of the American Revolution can be found are just a few of the authentic experiences that can be brought into the classroom for further study. With the gracious motivation from administration, many of what is learned from this experience will be exposed and applied to student’s learning through instructional strategies that encourage a love of learning.
