Thank you!

We are so happy that you made the choice to send your child to Red Stick Academy this school year. Thank you for your trust and willingness to support our school. This year will be as successful as you help it to be!

EBR Bookmobile

We are grateful for the partnership with the East Baton Rouge Library System and RSA. Our first Bookmobile visit is scheduled for Friday, September 2. The bookmobile will be on our campus from 9-11AM.

Labor Day Holiday - 9/5

No School Monday, September 5. Enjoy the long weekend!

It's School Picture Time!

Mark your calendar now! All students K-8 will be taking pictures Wednesday, September 7. Forms from Lifetouch have been sent home with your child. You may also go to mylifetouch.com and enter the School Code: EVTBD7CWT. Ordering your pictures has never been so easy with their relationship with Shutterfly!

Morning Arrival

  • School starts promptly at 8:15 am.
  • Please make sure to have your child at school before 8:15. You can drop off your child as early as 7:45.
  • Late arrivals have to sign in at the administration office and be sent to class with a pass.
  • Tardies will begin to count and accumulate Tuesday, September 6.
  • If your child is out sick, please send them back to school with a doctor's note for an excused absence.

School Dismissal

  • School finishes at 3:00 pm.
  • If there is any change in your child’s transportation schedule, please submit it in written form, so we can adjust accordingly.
  • Aftercare begins as soon as carline is over. The first 20 minutes is dedicated homework time.
  • Aftercare is provided until 4:00 p.m.

Homework and Planners

Our teachers are intentional about assignments assigned for homework. Homework assigned is not busy work. Students need to practice math skills and read every day. Does your child have a special place to do their homework? Be sure it is well lighted and quiet. Monitor your child and provide support as needed. Homework should be independent and reinforce the learning from that day's lessons. Students in grades 2-8 have been issued a planner to help them learn organizational and planning skills.

Afterschool ELA/Math Lab

For students 3-8th grade, Mrs. Ashraf and Mrs. Lubey rotate providing ELA/Math assistance Monday-Friday from 3:00-3:30.

Beginning of the Year Assessments

The beginning of the school year is a time when we take the time to assess where our students are academically, behaviorally, and emotionally. K-8 students have taken iReady diagnostics for ELA and Math. Did you get your child's BOY report? Please review it carefully with your child so that you can help us better support your child. We use DIBELS to assess literacy skills in K-3 and DRDP-K as our Kindergarten Readiness Tool.

Open House Was A Success!

We are very grateful for all of the support that our families have shown us the last few months. We were able to start school with our campus ready and almost everyone hired! Open House was a successful night! We had almost 100% participation from our families.

Lunch and Snacks

Teachers have noticed that not everyone has a nutritious lunch and/or snack. Please remember to send your child with a refillable water bottle and a nutritious lunch. Charcuterie boards are popular and fun and easy for children to eat.

Afternoon Carline

  • Thank you for remembering to use your hands free connection while in carline.
  • We appreciate you showing your carline sign on your rearview mirror up until the time your child gets into the vehicle.
  • Please stay in your vehicle.
  • Please pull up close to the vehicle in front of you.
  • If you are not inside the gate, help us keep the line off of Jefferson Highway by creating two lines and take turns going into the gate.

Parent Teacher Association

Please be watching for information about our Parent/Teacher Association. We had signup sheets at Open House. If you were unable to sign up, please email asilburn@redstick.academy to get on the list. We are currently planning a coffee time with parents to help us plan special events for this new year. Get involved now!

PowerSchool and Schoology

Are our means of communication for upcoming assignments and grades. Have you logged into your parent account yet? If not, please login soon. Q1 Progress Reports will be published Thursday, September 8. It will mark the "halfway" point of the first quarter. If you need help with your login, please contact mrogge@redstick.academy
