- Nearly $900 for Madison, Inc. providing hands-on collaborative learning for our 5th Graders
- Birthday books program given to students by Mr. Callahan
- Field Trips
- Class parties
- Nearly $2,000 for Staff Appreciation
- $860 for grounds beautification
- Virtual Mr. Lee Field Trip for our 5th Graders
- The Wild & Wacky Team Challenge assembly to celebrate a successful Reading Incentive
- Nearly $800 for Reading Improvement
Thank you for your continued support and generosity, Madison Community!! Your donations go a long way toward enriching the lives of our students!
Volunteer for a leadership role
Are you ready to step into a leadership role? There are committees/clubs that currently are in need of a chair for the 2020-2021 school year. Please contact president@madisonschoolpta.org if you are interested in any of the positions. If you are willing to serve as a committee/club chair but are unsure of what would be a good fit, let us know, we'll be happy to discuss the various roles with you. Please consider chairing one of these important PTA committees/clubs:
*Battle of the Books- 4th & 5th grade students participate. Meets weekly from September-March with matches after school at the Wheaton Public Library.
* Junior Battle of the Books- 3rd grade students participate. Meets every other week for 10 weeks.

Pre-order 2020-2021 school supplies
As a service to parents, the PTA is now selling school supply kits for the 2020-2021 school year. Carlson's Paint, Glass and Art store in Wheaton will assemble each kit and will have them ready for pickup at Carlson's the week of August 10-14 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Due to our current circumstances, we will not be accepting paper orders this year. All orders must be placed online by June 12 through Carlson's website at https://www.carlsonschoolkits.com/wheaton/madison-elementary/. Please note that sales tax will be added to all online orders.

Thank you LLC volunteers
Thank you to the Library Learning Center volunteers this year and to Kathryn Medanic, the LLC Volunteer Coordinator. The library volunteer program has always been an important aspect of Madison’s LLC program. Volunteers shelve books, check books in and out, read stories, and complete the many tasks involved to make the library run smoothly. Volunteers also allow Mrs. Graham the opportunity to work with classes on research projects and other activities. Volunteers are needed next year, either mornings (9:15-11:45 a.m.) or afternoons (1:00-3:30 p.m.). If you are interested in volunteering next year, please contact Meredith Sharpee at llcvolunteers@madisonschoolpta.org
Thank you to this year’s library volunteers: Tracy Amorosa, Amy Angolkar, Christine Bainbridge, Maggie Bragassi, Melissa Bianco, Julie Bickel, Samantha Campen, Joo Chang, Karen Dawson, Sarah Gochee, Joyce Harris, Mary Jane Helvie, Morgan Hill, Barb Ioli, Abby Markham, Ashley Martin, Katheryn Medanic, Melisa Oker, Sarah Perkins, Frances Phanthavong, Abby Richardson, Rebecca Roell, Meredith Sharpee, Susanne Sheehan, Janine Shimp, Kelly Styrkowicz, Jaime Szafanski, Suzie Weber, and Keri Widmer. Thank you so much for your time and dedication! Also, thank you to Cecilia Horejs, who organized the General Mills Box Tops For Education program.
Thank you Art Appreciation volunteers!
A big shout out to all of the Art Appreciation volunteers for the 2019-2020 school year. The students and teachers appreciate your enthusiasm, time and efforts examining and discussing artists and their art.
Thank you to the following volunteers (sincere apologies if you were missed): Katie Armstrong, Melissa Bianco, David Chase, Al Coppersmith, Jen Denson, Lesley Feinsot, Sue Hervey, Mary Henderson, Jessica Houston, Lifei Huang, Denise Krohn, Steve Laczo, Debbie McCraw, Ambika Reid, Julie Schulz, Gina Smethells, Amanda Smith, Victoria Smith-Gaudette, Beth Tatro and Brittney Zeller.

Thank you room parents
Thank you to the room parents for all of your support coordinating classroom parties, teacher recognition and teacher appreciation. The teachers and parents sincerely appreciate you serving as a liaison for the classroom. Of course the children appreciate your efforts with the parties and making their classroom a fun place to be!
Thank you Chess Club!
Thanks for a great year. Hopefully all the children enjoyed and will participate next year.
About 10% of Madison students were involved with Chess club this year. The total roster was 47 students.
We had Madison Chess Club Crosstown Classics (MCCCC) with Lincoln and Longfellow.
The club sent 19 students to the All-Wheaton chess tournament.
Most improved awards go to:
Camille Archer
Michael Crowley
Thank you to the PTA for supporting the group with funds to offset tournament fees.
Parent support was AMAZING this year and greatly appreciated.
A big thank you to:
John Weber for coaching again and sharing his knowledge of the game.
And of course, Amy Angolkar for working the books and crowd control behind the scenes.
Save General Mills box tops and scan your receipt
General Mills is phasing out its clipped Box Tops, but some may still be found on products throughout the store. If you have Box Tops, send them into the LLC. If you've never been one to remember to clip and send in Box Tops but have a smart phone, just download the new Box Tops app, and scan your receipt to find participating products. The app will automatically credit Madison's earnings. Madison can earn ten cents for every General Mills box top scanned. The LLC has purchased many copies of award winning books. Let's continue the effort. Download the new app.
