Learner Profile: Open-minded For the month of October, our school will be highlighting what it means to be an “Open-Minded” student. At Summit Ridge, all students take a foreign language class and learn about different cultures around the world. To promote open-mindedness at home, parents and students are encouraged to try new activities and new foods and think about creating new family traditions. Discussions about family heritage often lead to interesting family conversations.	Advisement Lessons Once a month during Advisement, students will read a picture book that is connected to the monthly Learner Profile attribute. After reading the book the students and teachers discuss how the characters in the book showcased the Learner Profile attribute.	Approaches to Learning Skills Along with the Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning skills are at the center of our Middle Years Programme (MYP). Over the year, in all classes students will develop their communication, social, self management, research, and thinking skills.
