SM & SOZ NOVEMBER 2021 NEWSLETTER

"OPENING OUR HEARTS TO HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD"

NOTE FROM THE DRE

Happy November!

November is the month in which we honor the saints and incorporate lessons on saints into our classrooms. It is also the month dedicated to praying for the departed holy souls. In the older grades, your children will be doing some research on saints in class and at home. In the younger grades, a saint story will be incorporated into their lesson this month.

Thank you to the grade 1-6 families who gathered for the All Saints' Day party! If you were unable to join us and want to watch the videos, they are on formed.org: Brother Francis All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Enjoyed by all ages!

This month, the parish invites you to the SOZ Chili Supper and St. Mary Raffle Drawing. See the website and bulletin for details. Thanks to all classes who helped make placemats for the chili supper! They are sure to be enjoyed! (view some of them in the October pictures)

On the SM & SOZ website Faith Formation Resource page, there is a password for accessing content for religious education and this is only intended for families enrolled in religious education. The password to see the content is: Gr8ful I will be adding some advent activities in the folders as it is coming up near the end of this month.

In grades 1-6 classes, we learned about why we go to Mass and why we make the Sign of the Cross. Below are a few videos from dynamic Catholic Speakers who encourage us to evangelize and share with others why we go to Mass on Sunday!

Hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!

ST. MARY & SONS OF ZEBEDEE FAITH FORMATION OFFICE

The mission of St. Mary and Sons of Zebedee Faith Formation Program is to aid parents in the Catholic faith formation of their children. At Baptism, parents promised to carry out the faith formation of their children and are considered their children’s primary teachers. Our parish catechists assist parents and children by providing quality religious education in a safe and spiritual setting. The collaboration between parents, catechists and students is essential to the growth of the Catholic Faith. The partnership promotes children to grow in their love for God and their understanding of their Catholic faith. It also cultivates their God-given gifts and talents and encourages them to follow in the path of Jesus. Furthermore, it encourages them to serve God and others compassionately and generously as Catholic Christians, which leads them to evolve into active members of their faith community.
