The Mac Memo
News from the Principal
Our first semester is winding down. I'd like to thank our families for their continued support of the teachers and staff at McLean.
Standards Referenced Grading
We have learned a lot about what our students know and are able to do through our work with Standards Referenced Grading. Please let us know how we can support you.
If you are a current magnet student, you do not need to reapply. If you have a sibling, you will need to apply for this student. You need to complete this prior to the deadline to be eligible for sibling priority. The deadline for the applications is February 18 and can be found at our district magnet website: usd259.org/magnet
New Staff Member
We'd like to welcome back one of our own who is coming to teach 2nd grade at McLean at the start of the new year! Mr. Andrew Hauff will be joining our staff. You may recognize his name, as he worked with us as a para-professional as he was earning his degree and he was a former McLean Wildcat! We are so glad to have our full staff here. A special thank you to Mrs. Katie Turkle for filling in her old position this quarter. We loved having her here and will miss her in her 'official' move to Kansas City!
Thank you to all the grandparents who came to our event! We had 284 people in attendance...that's more than we have students enrolled. It was great to see them working together on our quarterly STEM activity. Thank you to the families that helped out by providing our RSVP so we had our Hall Pass badges waiting on them.
I hope you all have a safe and happy Holiday season!

There will be no PTA meeting in December.
Next meeting will be held January 14th at 6:30pm in the library. Free babysitting will be available in the gym.
Help celebrate the holidays with your students' teacher by selecting an ornament off the Holiday Tree in the front office and surprising them with that gift! Each staff member made a list of items they need for their classroom or office.
The tree will be up through December. Please drop off items with the staff member or in the office. We will also have a Virtual Tree sign up on our Facebook page.
BIG THANK YOU for all the gift card donations and parent volunteers!
PTA Memberships: If you want to have a say in how PTA raises and spends money, please consider joining. Dues are $5, and you can join at any time. We support Kansas PTA and the National PTA with a large portion of our membership dues; this allows them to lobby our lawmakers on behalf of your children. Our PTA has short term and long term opportunities to support students: you can serve on a committee (such as the Field Day committee) or as a volunteer in or out of school. We are always happy to have new members and volunteers. We are proud to be WildCats at McLean because we exhibit a large amount of parent and community participation.
Follow us on Facebook! We will communicate important events, due dates, and urgent volunteer needs. www.facebook.com/McLeanPTA
