What causes this disorder?What gene or chromosome is affected by this disorder?
This disorder is caused by a defect on one of the several genes that produce or distribute melanin, the defect may also be caused by lack of melanin production.
What are the symptoms?
Absence in the color of eye, hair or skin. Lighter than normal skin and hair. Missing skin color.
How is it inherited?Can this individual have children in the future? Will those children be affected?
If you and your wife/husband both are carriers and have kid there could be a possibility that your child has albinism. Yes, but their children might not have the albinism
Are there parental tests for this disorder?
Genetic testings is the most accurate way to help find out if you have albinism and also if it is in the family history. Also a visual look can tell when the tests are uncertain.
Are there any treatments or cures? Could this disorder have been prevented?
No but you have to have a treatment that eases the symptoms or else you could become blind or have skin cancer.No but the family’s with family history should have consulted a doctor to know if their kid as albinism.
