Clay Chronicle

September 2022

Our Wildcat Leaders have been busy these first two weeks of school! Students have spent time building relationships with new friends and staff, learning school routines and creating classroom goals and mission statements. It has been wonderful to see so many new faces, including our new UTK students. On behalf of our entire Clay staff, we warmly welcome returning and new families. We are so happy you are here with us!

News, reminders and updates

Leader in Me

Clay Elementary is a proud Lighthouse school. Last year, we received this recognization based on the work we have done with the Leader in Me program. At Clay, we believe that every member of your family has greatness and we can't wait to learn and grow from you! Leader in Me is about empowering your child to reach their full potential while ultimately finding their voice. As a school, our staff has made five core commitments to your child. At this school we see that:

  • Everyone is a leader.
  • Everyone has genius.
  • Change starts with me.
  • We empower students to lead their own learning.
  • Educators and families partner to develop the whole person.

Not only do these paradigms apply to your student, they apply to all of us!

The Leader in Me provides our school with the vision and language to lead the school in a way that addresses all areas of development. As each child discovers and develops their own unique gifts and talents, they are given opportunities to lead. As leaders, they become active, engaged partners in their own education, and their self confidence, responsibility, and initiative grows. We are excited to see each child grow throughout the year.

Attendance matters!

Research shows that missing an average of 2 days a month of school can negatively impact student's academic performance. Please make every effort to get your student to school on time everyday. For more information about the importance of regular school attendance visit:
