The Deuce Weekly Updates
Promise Academy II High School
Week #6 2/13/17-2/17/17
I hope you had a wonderful Monday filled with excitement for this week's events!
This evening, we had our first recruitment fair of the year. We were able to meet some great educators who have a genuine interest in joining our schools. We look forward to having them come visit us and get to know our team a little better. Please let us know if you have any references. We are looking to expand our team and would like to make sure they will be a positive addition to our family.
Tomorrow is our second annual Titan Candy Gram. Under Ms. Johnson's guidance, our National Honor Society students have been working on assembling the gifts that everyone will receive. If you have have not had the chance to write a loving message to your colleagues or students, please do so. There are many people in our school that would be filled with happiness from reading a positive message from you!
Our seniors will be attending a "paint night" during the day on Valentine's Day as their February Senior Activity. Ms. Scott will be notifying everyone of the report time for our ONE Promise Retreat. Many thanks to Ms. Scott who worked on getting all of this scheduled!!
As adults in the educational field, we are often in situations where we must set our feelings aside and carry on for the sake of our children. There have been many instances of awful stories in the news that would be enough to cause doubt in our country's future and humanity. Though we may be afflicted with our own sentiments regarding the recent policies, it is now that our strength and guidance are needed most. Many of our children are coping with the recent raids sweeping our nation. Please take the time to discuss what is happening and the resources that are available to help their family if they find themselves dealing with immigration officers. A letter from our CEO, Ms. Anne, will be mailed this week. In the event that a child expresses distress over the President's executive orders, please share the following information with them:
Legal Aid’s Immigration Hotline - 844-955-3425 – will take calls from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays if people need further information or need legal assistance.
This week's MVP goes to all of YOU! Thank you for choosing to be a part of movement that educates a population of students written off by society and for being advocates for the removal of ignorance and hate.
Have a wonderful evening and see you all tomorrow morning,
H
